I just trash it. Always recap needles and just pitch it. Probably not the best and I've been meaning to buy a sharps container. They aren't too expensive, but I'm just lazy I guess.

Gatorade bottles, just as thick as the bio boxes if not thicker. I'm single so no wife to ask what is that bottle of sharps?

I bought a sharps container from the same vendor as my syringes. Darn thing is big though...just like the containers in the doctors office. Should hold a few years of sharp stuff. I can't remember exactly how much it cost, but maybe $10.

I use a sharps container but any type of bottle that has a lid will do per the pharmacy. It's not like the good old days where you could go roam around at the dumps looking for treasures though. LOL
I had a buddy who said almost every Sunday they would go to the dump after church in their suites and his dad would roam around looking for???? He was always mortified with good reason and yes their house is/was full of treasures.

Sharps container, cheap haz waste takes em for free when they are full, you just drop it off no questions asked. Guys re-capping isn't enough think about the people that handle the garbage. Most of it is sorted through. Bass this is why California has to regulate so many things, most people cannot regulate themselves and do things right.

Take my pin(s) & wrap them in a paper towel. Then quickly tape both ends with scotch tape before trashing them. Little extra protection for the garbage men. I can't even imagine the law-suit they'd file if one of them gets jabbed...

Funny al the creative ways you guys come up with to save 6-10 dollars heheheh...I just put them in the sharps container and either drop it off at local clinic or take it to needle exchange for swap out..

the nearest drop off to me is about 1.5 hour away! so the only way i can get rid of my sharpies is to get a $5 per container service from waste management! if i only put the needles in the container i think they have to pick it up once a year or even once every two years! not a bad deal. i think i'm going for it!

i like all the recyclable ideas best
-

In the US the rules vary state by state and can be found on the web. Where I live the rules call for safe disposal in the trash ( Not Recyclables LOL).
What I do is to take each needle and place it within the syringe body point outward then ram the plunger down on top of the needle piercing the plunger and folding it over within the barrel. I then take these units and place them in an old 5 lb Whey bottle or Liguid laundry detergent bottle after it is mostly full I cover the threads with epoxy and cap the bottle and drill a hole in the lid and take expanding foam as used to fill walls with in construction work and squirt it into the container this forms a solid block of crap inside the bottle to completely insure both safety as well as making sure nothing ever happens like the trash can being hit by a car and the container broken open and needles spilling out in my street in front of my house LOL. Sure its a little extra work but the safety to myself and the garbage collectors is well worth it to me.

Hey Bass when you go buy a sharps container ask the pharmacy where a drop off location is. Another way to make your sharps container is to only put the pins in it not the syringe.
