Test results
Ok guys I had my total T checked a few months ago and it was 378. So I got an appointment with an endo. Here are my results.
Prolactin 6.6 ng/ml (4.0-15.2)
Free Test 11.0 pg/ml (8.7-25.1)
Ferritin, Serum 240 ng/ml (30-400)
Thyroxine (t4) 1.22 ng/dl (.82-1.77)
Total Test 360 ng/dl (348-1197
TSH 3.710 uIU/ml (.450-4.5)
Luteinizing Hormone (LH), S Prolactin 3.9 mIU/ml (1.7-8.6)
Ok can someone break this down for me and tell me if I need HRT? I know my total T is on the low side, but what about my free T? I am 34 yrs old. Thanks for your help!Last edited by jaybigboy34; 11-09-2011 at 08:39 PM. Reason: added range

Did your doctor give you a range? The range my doc gave me for free test (if I remember correctly) was (9-28.7ng/dl). I would say you would benefit from HRT treatment.

A great knowledgeable member here told me that anything over 3 on the tsh needs attention. I would also research hypothyroidism as well.

How is your lifestyle? have you had anything happen that seemed to be the start of it all? How is your diet/exercise, etc?
Your bloodwork numbers look fine, but its all relative to how YOU feel. There are many other factors that play into the "low T symptoms" and getting TRT is like a ''cure-all". But the question is do you NEED it? IMO i would wait as long as possible before goin on TRT, esp in mid 30's. Its a shot for the rest of your life, and that can get very old.
Cant sleep at night, do you wake up after falling asleep? or cant relax enough? or once your asleep you are fine but takes a while to get there?
I think you should check all possibilities before starting TRT, making it sorta a last resort.
have you ever done a AAS cycle? if so, did you do a PCT, use HCG on cycle?

shitty sleep sure will fvck you up
agree with lemon by ruling out everything except once a week shot getting old its prolly less than brushing your teeth
and i was gonna ask about your symptoms as well
but yes rule everything out for the best anyway and yes follow up on the thyroid problem possibility

Lifestyle is fine. I go to work in an office and I workout 3 days a week. I don't do much cardio which I need to start doing more of. I mainly powerlift. Diet is pretty good. I do eat the occasional sweet every now and then, but not bad.
I feel tired everyday. Like I have no energy. Most of the time it takes me at least 30 mins to fall asleep. When I get to sleep I sleep hard for about 2 hrs and then wakeup. Sometimes I will go right back to sleep and other times I will be up for about an hour or two. Then I will sleep good for another hour or so and then wake up again. So basically I wake up several times during the night.
I really don't want to take TRT right now, but if it would help me sleep I would. That is why I am on here asking for help because I am not sure what all the bloodwork numbers mean.
I do not know what AAS cycle means. But whatever it is I have not done it. Thanks for all your help!

hell i can't sleep right and been on TRT for almost a year! i wake up every 20-30 minutes tossing and turning, so TRT may not be a cure for your sleeping disorders. try some Camomile Tea to help you sleep!

Do more cardio, powerlifting only can bog the body down (esp in the heart) which seems to be the case.
Try doing active cardio for 30-45 min a day. that can be riding a bike, walking/jogging, swimming... just something to get ur HR going at a steady pace.

Like Lemon said. It's about how you feel. Numbers are not everything when it comes to T levels. Exhaust all options before you jump into the TRT vortex. Agree with Mario on your tsh. Have you tried melatonin prior to bed?

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
It's now seven years since the experts have established that this new, narrower TSH normal range of 0.3 to 3.0 is a more accurate one, and recommended that it become the standard of practice. Yet, the dithering continues. Some doctors use the new range for diagnosis and therapeutic management -- others refuse to consider anything unless it's marked "High" or "Low" on laboratory reports.
