    Opinions/suggestions for my Dad's bloodwork

He has just recently gotten his blood work back. I'm not sure of everything to post. I see no E2 however, would it be called anything else?

    Growth hormone serum 0.6
    IGF-1 176
    Total test 232
    free test 4.11%
    total free 9.54

He is 66, has had a metal heart valve put in years ago. He is on blood thinners now and his Endo does not want him on shots. He was told to use 1 tube a day... but it's not androgel so i'm not sure what his prescrip is for. His vitamin D is low also so he wants him on a D supplement for that.

    Any thoughts on this?

if he's on blood thinners TRT may not be a good idea, unless drawing 1 pint blood every 4 weeks is part of the treatment. TRT makes the blood thick so it would pose some risks if he's not monitored regularly. he definitely is in the tank based on the blood work!

Yes it is a lot of hassle. The problem is he is constantly falling asleep, lacks any sort of stamina, his memory sucks, not much strength... I mean all of the signs of being very low.

These symptoms could also point to a deficiency in pregnenolone, DHEA, & B12. I would put money on it that his levels are low. See if you can't get these labs added to the panel and let us know. Also, let us know how the doc reacts with the E2 request. If he says it's "Not needed" ... Well, if that happens then you probably know our position on the matter.

I'm really not to sure about the issue with shots. Maybe because the bruising it can cause when he has gotten shots before. If he has to have any sort of minor surgery or anything he has given himself shots of lovenox I think it is? It causes some brusing. The only other thing I can think of is that the sudden test rise might be more than he feels his body should have.

nope... not a single one of those on the test. They took 12 viles of blood and didn't check this??? I really question these "experts".

On a side note, does anyone here know of an Endo in the Charolette NC area that KNOWS what to test for?

the no shots theory now has some merit but still lotta hassel for someone 60 and imo he would/could skip applications eventually...nebido would be great for someone like your dad maybe it will hit in the us soon...

agree with vette more bloodwork would be helpful/informative

Agree with Vette and JPK a full blood panel is the way to go.
Shouldn't have to feel that way at 60 and hassle with the DOC is just wrong

Oh I agree with everyone here... like I said... 12 viles of blood and they missed some of the most important things on the test?

Just to make sure... B12 on the blood test would just show as B12 correct?
E2 is NO where on here, so that one just wasn't checked and none of the others shown here were checked either.

Yes, B12 would just be straight forward and called B12 and/or Vitamin B12 folates. The E2 panel will be Estradiol, and it should be noted as "sensitive" in the description of the panel.

I'm somewhat anxious to hear the doctor's reaction when asking for these (and other) panels. Keep us posted.
    Good luck,
    Vette
