Mistakes I made with my hrt ....
1. Waiting . I knew something was wrong with me , and should have acted 5 years sooner then I did .
2. I should have taken a "before " picture . I was looking at some pic of me on the beach from 5 years ago , and its funny have much my body has changed ...loven it !
3. Not listening to the sound advice given here and adding that extra plate or 3 as my muscles grew and my tendons where catching up . In a nut shell I now have sport related injuries at 50 (lol) that I havent had in 25yrs . Truth be told , I think its great at 50 , that I have to hold back knowing I could lift more then I do and go slow . What can I say , I have my male ego back and if some 30 year old is showing off at the gym my ego says " yeah kid , watch this Im gunna blow your mind " ... like i said ... goooooo slooooowww ... these guys know what they are talkin bout . 4. Im here to say , these guys are always going on and on about diet ..blah blah blah ... well , they are rite . Now that my body has become a machine again , the days I party or eat bad are felt the next day big time . I look foward to my "good for you " meals now . I know they are hand in hand with my htr and the gym all 3 need to be done .
5. This is for me . Ive been a good father and husband for 20 years , gave to everyone around me year after year expecting nothing in return . Now its my turn to give to me , I take my gym time , I make meals ( yeah I cook ) for my family that are good for us , I spend time here reading about diet , training etc .. heres the funny part , my 2 girls jumped on board with me , eating rite , hittin the gym 6 days a week ... they look like sports models now .. !!! unreal .
6. thanks to the people who day in and day out post here , help us find our way in our new lives .. you guys rock ... and u know who u are ! ...

I'm still VERY early into all of this but knowing what I know now I wish I had started about 4-5 years ago when my symptoms were really starting to effect my daily life.
My workouts have never been so productive, and it's certainly nice to have some libido back! Looks like I might even get the wifey on board with the workout program.....we'll see.
Now if I could only get my almost 14 year old son on board. He's so frail and growing like a weed....he really needs to beef up a little but so far I can't convince him to start lifting with me. I've tried all the tactics - sports, girls....etc... But to no avail so far

FRED , I never asked my teen girls to join me . I think seeing me transform over a 2yr period ( last 8 months on hrt) and having their friends coment on the "new" me did it for them . As we both know , you cant tell a teen shit , they have to want it on their own . I do know this , If I take great care of me , I can take better care of the people around me . I have an idea for u , put a guitar in his hand ? Maybe hes a rocker like me ?

Eight sons! Dude. I have two and they run me ragged...or at least used to before they went off to college. I'm envious of you...but how do you afford having eight?
My biggest mistake was waiting. Like you said OP....you knew something was wrong, but didn't take action (or the doctors missed the signs). Years lost to feeling like crap.

Great post.
I wish I had a "before" picture as well. I wouldn't even let people take pictures of me clothed.

I looked into an hrt program but they quoted me well over two grand for just a few months of therapy. If I am going to be on it for the rest of my life I can not afford this and especially when I spend a boat load on a really good health insurance policy that covers none of it. Now I am thining I will just get the stuff myself online and hope for the best. Has anyone been successful at doing it themselves ie getting the stuff on the black market

newtwo , get tested at your regular doctor ( covered) see what the tests say . If your regular doctor isnt into hrt(as mine wasnt ) you got to an endo (covered) ... my 2 cents

No wonder you have gray hair on your chin. You pulled all the hair out of your head! Damn Bass!
Jamie, outstanding! Everyone here is ecstatic for you. Keep it up as it's definitely a game changer! BTW, no one will believe the sports model thing without seeing pic's. HA! Congrats!

Saxophone.......and he's pretty damn good.
Not so far. He does mess around with my arms. He'll say "don't flex" and punch me and then say "now flex" and punch me again a go "OWW!" I'm hoping he'll come around. I'm not pushing him because I know that will just backfire.
