    hormone related question about alcohol

Seems like everyone around here knows a lot about hormones, so I respect your thoughts on the subject.

Does anyone know through what action(s) alcohol decreases test levels and increases estrogen?
Does it act on signaling hormones, the testes themselves, or aromatase production/action?

I know it slows metabolism of estrogen by the liver. Thus increasing estrogen in the body. That is def. one of the mechanisms for decreasing test and increasing estrogen.

xelnaga is correct. When E2 levels rise, they attach to receptors in the pituitary and that results in less LH being produced. LH tells the testicles to produce testosterone . Of course the science is only about as interesting as learning to make a rum and coke, versus drinking a rum and coke which most people find more interesting.

This is correct; without getting into all the details E2 and Alcohol compete in the liver as they are metablolized by the same pathways.

    Hi E2 lower testosterone .

To what extent and level this really happens is dependent upon the individual.

Alcohol and sleep deprivation can cause a significant drop in test levels, I am aware of a few that have used that ruse to access prescription AAS.

even worse. you can go on test for a few weeks, long enough to shut down, then stop for a couple of weeks, have your test levels checked, and they will be down lower than normal.

    just saying...
