Going to Dr nxt week...what to ask??

Ive been lifting hard for 5 years- got my diet down 2 years ago. I was progressively getting weaker since the summer and everything was still onpoint so i had my levels checked. Total test was 288. Im 31 and in the best shape of my life, active, eat right- so this sucks. Ive heard horror stories about Drs messing people up trying to get levels back to normal. My primary has me going to an endocrinologist next week and I have no clue what to ask...... any suggestions to help me feel out this Dr>>>?

Go to www.allthingsmale.com and read everything. Also read all the sticky threads at the top of the forum. Over and over again. Print out Crislers protocols and take it with you to the doctor and give him a copy (nicely, don't offend him.) Tell him you want the BW pulled that is listed there. But first, how do you know this doctor knows TRT? Just because they are an endo does not mean they do. Call his office and ask his staff if he specializes in it and will follow Crislers protocols. If the staff doesn't know have them ask him and get back to you. Don't waste your time and money if he won't.

As soon as possible post your BW here. Educated members will review it and give you great direction. Total test is not that important, it's free T and Bio T. Also, sign the HIPA form at the lab and have them send/fax you copies of all your BW from this point forward. This way you have time to review it, post it if needed, and prepare your questions using research, this forum, etc.

You will get a lot of responses from good people here willing to help. Be patient, read and learn and form an educated opinion. You are in charge of your health and your doctor is there to help.

Good luck and welcome to the forum. Remember to post current BW.

For a 31 year old these are in the tank and you need to understand why. Rule out Pitutitary problems. Your LH panel is low and possibly one reason for the low Total and Free Test. FSH is low and it corresponds to LH in the same fashion. E2 is good so your not converting much. Thyroid looks good as well.

You tested for hCG? Really? Can you tell me why? That's interesting...

I'm not sure why the dr tested for that or even what it is. I really need to start doing some research on this stuff. When I got my results they also included a full drug screen for every illegal drug I've ever heard of- I'm gonna ask the dr about that too

Tall - Go to a good book store like Barns & Nobel and purchase a book by Dr. Abraham Morgentaler titled "Testosterone for Life". It will tell you everything you need to know on a basic laymans level. It's a great read for someone new and trust me, you won't put it down.

BTW, there was no need to test for HCG LOL!

You'll be okay man, we've all been there to some extent or another.

Get the right Doctor. The one you hire MUST know TRT protocols for men. Ask them directly, if they don't answer you with a strong affirmative response...move on.

    You need the right Doctor.

If you are willing to travel seek the help of Dr. John Crisler or Dr. Richard Gaines. They are both TRT specialists, only work with men, and see patients nationwide.

    Google both for thier sites.

Also, search Google for Compounding Pharmacies in your local area and get phone numbers. Call them and ask them directly if they know any Physicians prescribing TRT protocols. They can point you in the right direction so you get the right care.

I can't stress it enough; you need the right Doctor or you're going to end up in an even worse place and if you think your frustrated now...wait till then!

Hang in there brother help will soon be on the way
