    General advice

A friend of mine at the gym was tested for low T, I have been telling him how much better I feel since starting. I was pushing him pretty good to get on a program. In hindsight, having a few regrets as I was probably pushing him too hard considering its his decision to make. He claims to have the "basic" symptoms, his total T was 414 (280-1100) I dont recall any other numbers. He is in his lower 40"s, Is 414 with symptoms a legitimate canadate??? Guess my conceince is getting to me a litle, when I started, no one told me this was for life.

I was about 220 total test. Free test is a better indicator.
other symptoms may not be attributable to low T
I agree, you should not have pushed. It's a very personal decision, and he's the one that has to live with the consequences.
414 is really not low T, imho.
I'd back off, and give him some space.
    Good luck!

414 is low if he feels like it is low. I believe it is relative, if someone was much higher when a bit younger and they really notice a difference it is going to be a lot harder for them. Those numbers are where I am at and If my libido was a 9 out of 10 even 6 years ago, and is now a 3 out of 10 then something is wrong. But like times roman said, there may be other factors. I haven't actually started on TRT, trying out thyroid repla***ent first, and seeing if there isn't a way to fix things without trt, unlikely though as upping my dose of thyroid medication so far has me going the opposite direction, but too soon to tell.

I think it is important that people understand what is available to them, and get the chance to talk to someone who has experience in it. I really had no clue, and was really uninformed. I think that is the best thing you can do for him is answer questions and give him insight about your experience and some knowledge. It would help him make a better decision. And yeah probably don't want to push him in to it especially if it might not be that beneficial for him, if it is something he needs and he is informed he will be more likely to get on a program.

If he feels fine then 414 doesn't sound like a problem. We can't put too much faith into simply a number. T therapy is so complex and the symptoms overlap so much with other diseases and conditions. It's really not something a person can diagnose in another person, certainly not secondhandly even as a medical professional.

The best you can do is tell him you had low T, saw good improvement, and maybe he could talk to his doc about it. But I would certainly never force any drug therapy onto another person just because it helped myself.
