Question Did androgel dry your skin out?

I'm newly on androgel 1.62%, coming over from Testim. Testim was a sticky mess, whereas androgel is much better, almost no stickiness at al. I like that a lot!

However, I feel like my shoulders get quite dried out, as best I can explain it. Almost to the point where it slightly burns. It's VERY mild. I don't have a rash there, but I was thinking maybe the alcohol carrier is drying my skin out? Anyone else have this experience with androgel?

It doesn't matter if it's 1 pump or 2 pumps either.

I never had that problem (way back when) taking Androgel . If it's some sort of reaction, it probably won't improve. Sounds likes a good reason to ask for injections instead

Androgel dried my skin out and I was on 8 pumps, so I was dry all over . My Endo said to apply lotion after the Andro was dry but I went off Andro right after.

If your sticking with andro then use moisturizer an hour after application. It will improve absorbtion as well as help your skin. win-win.

I did read that in the insert about the lotion. It might be helping me but I don't expect that I can reasonably apply the lotion every day if I'm out of the house.

Thanks for the input to everyone.

Carry a little bottle of lotion with you. Or like vette said sounds like a good reason to switch to injections.

Im trying to make gels work because I favor the more natural daily rise and fall of T. Newly on androgel though and still testing it out.

Androgel has never made my skin dry that I have noticed. Generally, my skin does get drier in the winter months, but nothing abnormal that seems related to Androgel. I agree that adding a skin lotion will help in several ways, but I am at work when it would be time to do that. Definately a no-go in my work environment. That strategy works pretty well when I am at the beach though.

Last few days I have done the lotion at 1 hour post-application. I am not getting that burning/dried out sensation which is good. Perhaps you don't need to do it everyday, but just a few times per week.
