Research Studies
So my wife heard about some research studies going on for men with low testosterone , I called but haven't heard back. Found out she is pregnant yesterday so I am more likely to start trt now. Does anyone have experience with getting treatment through these groups? I figured I would ask a bunch of questions if she ever got around to calling me back. They compensate for time and travel and cover cost of treatment etc. So wondering if the treatment is even worth it, or if its a bad idea to be the guinea pig?

Hit and miss...you could end up in the placebo group and get noting.
Plus, they are looking for something specific and generally not tailored to your personal situation.

Yes good points, I am guessing they wouldn't answer all my questions either, nor do anything other than set blood work and specific protocols for treatment.

Is this purely a financial issue? TRT doesn't need to be really expensive if you go to a good doc that charges reasonable amount for visits and prescribes for Test so you can buy it at the pharmacy. It is the opportunists that are raping people for hundreds of dollars a month.

no my doc seems affordable and i have insurance, so that kind of is a good point I should be fine just going to my doctor, i need to schedule an appointment to talk about treatment, although he would likely do it over the phone it has been a week since I last called requesting to talk to him and haven't heard back. I want my e2 tested before I start and want to make sure this is something he will monitor as necessary. As well as implement HCG . Still not even sure he will do injections cause I tried to be vocal about not wanting to do the gel.

If money isn't a concern then really the only reason I can think someone would want to be part of a study is to help science or try to be on the cutting edge.
On the flip side, Testosterone is so studied and "proven" that I would easily recommend going with the tried and true. Quite simply, you are almost guaranteed to fix your low T problems.

Well, it can't hurt to hear them out and see what their objectives are, and what the program entails. I would probably be leaning towards the "don't do it" side, but see what's on the table first.
