Will I put muscle on?
I have low Test levels. I was wondering if my Dr put me on TRT at lets say 100mg of Cyp' a week would I put on any muscle and loose fat? I know diet is the most important thing to building muscle but just wondering if such a low dose of Cyp' via SQ would help me build muscle?

100 mg is the general starting dosage when starting a TRT protocol.
Diet, resistance training, some cardio and control of E2 and YES you will look like a new man.
It happened to me...but with a lot of diligence and hard work.

Brick, could you refresh us with your testosterone score(s)? GD is right (like usual), as it will involve a combination of factors to get you dialed in, and it will require some dedication to set your goals and to see them through. Like GD, I've seen some major changes over the years. Optimizing my testosterone was definitely a major catalyst, but it was also helpful to balance the the other panels like E2, Preg & DHEA, B12, etc., and to commit to living a healthy lifestyle. Anything is possible, just put your mind and heart to making it happen!

It you have clinically low Testosterone then a very common side effect is increased muscle gain and fat loss. This does not continue indefinitely, however. Probably after 1 year if the only thing you change is adding T cypionate then you will reach a set point.

It boils down to lifestyle as so eloquently stated above. Here you have the opportunity to elevate/correct your T levels to those of a much younger man. Take full advantage of this and optimize your training and diet and along with a properly tuned TRT protocol you can do wonders. You ask is 100mg enough to build muscle? Consider the average males endogenous testosterone production is between 4-7mg a day. The ones closer to 7 are real lucky. My .02

^^^ what everyone said, and yes diet is 90% for muscle gain and fat loss!

just being on trt alone, without diet and exercise mods will provide you "some' noticeable changes, including some reduction to body fat, and possibly adding some lean body mass. But these benefits will be slow and marginal if that is all you do. once you ramp up diet and exercise, it's like shifting gears, and everything happens much faster

I was surprised when my Dr. told me a good portion of his clientele match this description. Successful, corporate type guys who come in for TRT, but have no interest in exercise or weight training.
I myself continue to add muscle & strength being 2 years into TRT, but am finding I must continually vary my workouts to achieve this. If I could just now get my diet dialed-in as good as my weight training is ;-P

^^^^^^ What they all said. Diet and exercise are key. It keeps getting better, bigger and stronger little by little but put in a lot of hard work.

I'm rehabbing from a work injury right now. I'm VERY athletic, however, I may be a few months out from being able to perform actual weight lifting and resistance training again. If I back off for a few months while in physical therapy, will I bounce back and get on track? I just started TRT. I'm 40, 5'10" 173 and about 10-12%bf at the present. (I put on a few lbs in the last month since the injury and starting TRT. Trying to eat healthy, but haven't tracked my nutrition as the injury/low test/medical issues have demotivated me. I will get back on track, but don't want to waste the fruits of TRT. Can I bounce back?

if you exercise you will gain muscle, if you dont you might gain some weight, but in a healthy way, just watch your diet.

Younger men seem to not put fat on as easily as older men especially in the middle. Trt has shown to help plus give more energy/intensity to workout which is what helps you Lose weight. You should not gain fat as easily as you did pre trt.

But a good one! I'm at 100mg per week and I'm hoping to put on a but of muscle as well. I'm lean to begin with for the most part. My low t has slowed down my muscle growth. I need to look more manly with the physique. I have a very athletic build but want to fill out some more.

just my two cents... Im not a hardcore bb like some seem to be on here(tool lazy!) ..just a 43 yo weekend warrior / gym rat. In about 5 months of taking TRT , ive gained about 23lbs of muscle/ non body fat (here's a big fat middle finger to you Joe Weider lol) . Dont have the exact numbers in front of me but i was probably around 195 at 16% bodyfat... last i checked i was 210 lbs at 11%. (for me thats pretty lean).... no i dont look like schwarzenegger in his prime but im a helluva lot bigger than i ever have been or ever thought i would be. honestly i dont care if i get any bigger muscle wise... just want to be leaner. Ive worn XL shirts forever... now, they are very tight in the arms and across the shoulders. Maybe im weird but it just feels damn good to see such results.
[my workout fwiw : hitting gym 4 days a week, good but far from perfect diet, and doing insanity for cardio 5 -6 x week]
to me TRT has been miraculous, from a gym standpoint anyway. I would say i feel like im 18 again gym wise but, that would be just wrong, cuz i think i was about 150lbs soaking wet when i finished high school. Thank you low T center and TRT therapy!!!!

That is awesome! I know results aren't "typical" as they say, but it's motivational to hear that someone had some great side effects from getting the testosterone under control! What's your protocol?

test cyp injections q10 days 200mg
hcg 500 units 2 x week (MD gave me option to take it 3 times a week, still experimenting to see whats optimal)
fortunately for me as well my E2 is pretty low (20 ish) and so is my SHBG levels (my total t was like 687 last time ,free t was 22, which i think is a lil high actually).
oh one thing to add... im not sure what constitute big time bodybuilding doses.. id love to know that.. i think ive seen a few guys on here saying they take like 200mg like very other day. Again im not sure about that, but wow that seems crazy high..
i will say that on my test injection day , day +1 , maybe day +2 i do get some mild / dull headaches . not bad ones just sorta know its there. Never really had them before so i attribute to the T somehow. sometimes have restless sleep with heavy workouts too that i didnt have before. (just going for total disclosure here)Last edited by sfgiantsfan55; 10-29-2013 at 08:31 AM.

I took the Low T as a approach to get my gym life in order.
I have always worked out, and had a good handle on my diet. I have never been above 20% BF(maybe less, but I estimate high.) I have went from 180ish to about 195 with 13ish% bf(down from 16) in about 3 months. Not great gains, but I can tell a difference. I have always gone to the gym so I knew about work out plans pretty well, but not much about nutrition. I wish I had learned the other way, I am sure I would be much leaner. I cut from 196 down to 183 as well during that time for 6 weeks to get my abs for a beach trip.
I do 150mg/weekly. I have friends who are planning to cycle(I will "most likely" I am not sure yet) but right now its hard for me to imagine what the outcome of a 8-12 week 500mg a week of pure test would do with proper diet. That's 3+ times what I am taking, so if your diet was in order it almost blows my mind to think what would be possible.
