I hear it's not very HRT friendly in your country. Like mentioned above, it probably has a lot to do with the doctor, and his/her interpretation on how to effectively administer a protocol. Good luck, keep us posted on how it turns out.

right doc or specialists will prescribe it to you if its needed, if you're with medicare its pretty cheap, reandraon- 8-12 weeks long ester is 30$~ , gels cant quite remember, i think around 30 a month. i went with the reandron since its only 4-6 shots a year and thats it

So I've had my GP do two blood tests which didn't cost a cent.
My endo sent me to get more blood work done, through the same lab - Southern Pathology - and today I get a $300 bill, half of which I get back through medicare, but still I can't afford this. I have to get a follow up blood test done in a couple of weeks too.
What's going on? Is it because I'm going through a private specialist and not a medical centre GP?
If that's the case I'll just go to the GP and ask him to order the bw.

My bulk billing doctor is doing the whole lot for me so far.. my next app it tomorrow so ill see if he is going to put me strait on it or fuk me around.. I'm pretty hopefully that he will put me strait on HRT with out any further stuffing around... according to PBS you just need two morning blood test and thats it... the doctor can even put you on HRT if your blood is normal you just wont get it on the PBS is all ..
Subscribe to this if you like and ill fill you in on what happens tomorrow

Subscribed. Let us know how it goes.
Is your doc an endo/some other specialist or just a GP?
I'll be honest I don't know much about Medicare or PBS. Every time I'd go to the GP in the past (not very often) they just scan the medicare card and I wait to see the doc. Any needed blood tests, xrays were always covered. They do this in house but through private labs. Never cost me a thing. So now getting this bill shocked me a bit.

Yeah same here mate... he's just my GP has been my doc for about 20yrs.. thou i think he is retiring soon which is going to suck ...
Are you on DSP or anything because if you are you should be able to ring up the Pathology place and tell them ...
Doc pointed out to me that he is ticking the box that says bulk bill on the referral .. other wise they prob would charge me for it ...
Ill let you know how i go tomorrow..
If i had to lay a bet id say ill come home with a scraped for test cream or something very simpler ..
i cant see him giving me take aways in a vile .. not yet anyway ..Last edited by Gym_; 02-15-2012 at 02:54 AM.

OK so went to my GP today and he said.. yerp your T is low so we will hook you up with some... he gave me a choice of what i wanted but because I'm under 40 I'm not eligible for PBS .. gel was going to cost about 60 bucks and shots 35 bucks per 6 weeks.. so Ive walked in the door with 9 of these ..
The only thing is the needle that comes with these is some Serious pulp fiction shit man... there 2in long and 0.9mm / 19 gage thick ..
So i went back to the Doc and got some 1" 23 gage / 0.6mm needles

Nah no DSP. Apparently most specialists don't bulk bill, me endo doesn't, so I was invoiced privately for the blood test. The pathology place was sneaky in not telling me I was going to be invoiced, they said I should have read the signs. So yeah, got screwed by both.
Anyway how low was your Test to get that prescribed?

1st blood work said my test was 5.2 nmol/l out of 11.0-40.0 and the 2nd one said it was 6.1 out of 11.0-40.0 ... so fukin shit house ..
I dont see why your doc sent you to a endo for... thats fuking stupid, what he cant read a blood test ? ...

Ah you're way below range. Mine came back 9.7 then 9.5 and the latest one was 12 (which is in range) so I think I'm screwed if I want TRT.
I asked to be sent to an endo in hopes that he'll know better but seems like he's only a slight step above the GP who didn't even know what LH and FSH does. He said 'those are female hormones'. And this guy apparently went to seminars about testosterone and male hormones.
Sounds like you have a decent doc, good luck with the TRT, hope it goes well for ya.

Well if yours is that low i would be pushing for it... ya goto remember that a 99 yr old man has the T levels above the lowest end of the scale .. so even if your levels were 15 out of 11-40 and your not 70 yrs old thats still low as shit ... .. For optimal health you should really be above middle .. the thing you have to take into consideration is that the scale of 11-40 is taken from 1,000 men aged between 19 and 99yrs old ...
If your quack wants to be a real stickler there is a couple of things you can do to lower your test a couple of points to make sure your in that range.. give me a PM if ya like and ill fill you in on a cuple..

Yeah I tried telling him that the range is for men of all ages and doesn't take into account where certain age groups should be within the range but all I got was an earful about how he's the expert and I shouldn't believe everything I read.
Not sleeping, getting drunk, not eating much and over training for a few days before a blood test would do the trick but for now I want to find out the cause before jumping on TRT. I'd like to avoid it if at all possible.
Forgot to ask did you ever get your free test checked? Do they even do that here? It seems they do a Free Androgen Index instead of checking free test and they go off that.Last edited by Ace111; 02-18-2012 at 04:37 AM.

I'll stick with this guy as long as he's willing to find the cause but anything after that I'll find a new one.
I'll keep an eye out for your posts btw. Interested to see how you progress once you start injecting.

best thing to do is find your countries guidelines , read them back to front front to back and take a copy with you to see the endo, if hes useless you can quote them and show the evidence with the guidelines (make sure you have your countries guidelines) , if you start quoting stuff from other countries you will just get ignored . uk guideline state 9-12 n/mol as a grey area and can be given a trial based on symptoms.
good luck
*yay i found them if you dont have already

bah n/m my mistake , you get the idea - use the government guidlines
site is abit confusing , if you goto publications and look in there are fact sheets , the authors are at the end and it says that they are funded by the AU government , if not you can always contact the authors and ask if there are any national medical guidelines for the treatment of hypogonadism.
good luckLast edited by pugster; 02-19-2012 at 02:41 AM.
