Low blood pressure but high resting pulse rate

My blood pressure has been well-controlled on diovan plus hct for the last year or so. But lately my resting pulse rate has increased to around 110 bpm and my blood pressure has been low at around 90-100/50-60. This morning after 3 days of no bp meds my bp was 110//74 and my pulse rate was 115.

I have been "cycling" and dieting hard for a fitness contest at my local gym and my bodyfat is down to 7.4% from around 14% in early January using the 9 point Parrillo caliper method.

I will have a complete bloodwork run tomorrow morning,

Any thoughts on the disconnect between my high pulse rate and low blood pressure?

I get similar issues when on cycle. BP is controlled with Rx from doc, and i only take while on. My PR also climbs, and interfere's with my cardio. Not sure what to tell you. I'm sure others will have some ideas, in which i'll be learning some things too

Well as blood pressure decreases your heart will naturally increase its rhythm to restore the proper pressure. This is normal.

HOWEVER, the interplay of all the systems here are quite complex and its really something best to take up with your doctor. Let him know you're concerned and you want him to keep a close watch.

At it's peak, my resting PR was about 90ish. but that was in Kabul, and over a mile high, so not sure what role elevation has to do with it. but when off cycle over there, my PR would drop to the high 50's, so not bad for my age

what is your body temperature? i am curious if your body trying to compensate by raising heart rate to produce higher temperature. low pressure mean less friction through your veins and thus lower temperature. my doc told me when our heart beats fast it raises body temperature, so i am curious if thats what your body is trying to do.
