    Vitimin D

Last fall I was tested and like many here had a Vit D (technically) defieciency, was 29 on a scale of 30-100. Of course I couldnt tell, would not of known without the Blood test. Live toward Chicago, so 6 months out of the year not much sunlight. I was Rx,ed Vit D 5,000 IU daily and been taking them for 2 plus months now. Frankly, do not feel ANY different. Is this normal, would one not feel anything when levels return to where they should be???
Do not question the need to supplement but was curious if energy level or anything else would be noticable?

I highly recommend two boluses of 35,000-50,000 IUs a week. This will raise your vitamin D levels a huge amount in just a few months. Vit. D isn't like testosterone - you won't "feel" it to the same degree. But your body will "work" better.

I felt "healthier" on Vit. D. I don't get run down as easily now that my levels are optimized. Just remember too high of vit. D levels is associated with health issues. Optimal is better than maximal.

My D was at 25. I took an oil based D pill for a year and couldn't get my D blood level above 35. I switched to sublingual and my D blood levels shot up to 59. Go sublingual if you are not getting results from other forms.

I'm really not sure if Vitamin D is going to be something you "feel" like say, some neurological drugs or even TRT.

The more important thing, I believe, is that a healthy/higher vitamin d level will prevent disease and possibly it could help with low testosterone . If you're on TRT though the testosterone benefits will be a non-issue of course.

Also, did you get a follow up lab test to see what your level actually is?

I have labs coming up again in a couple weeks, truthfully I wasnt gonna have them test the D again but maybe I'll reconsider that. I would like to think it is absorbing and with the weather turning better, should be a non issue but who knows, unless BW is done. Thanks for the input!

Agree with HRT. Remember Vit D has receptors in literally in every cell in the body. Mine was low too @ 25. Be testing soon myself to see where it's at after supplementing with Drisdol. It can also improve serum T levels by reducing shbg.

my vitamin d was very low like many others on this site. we had a good discussion going on about it. probably raised a lot of awareness and got some people to check their own levels.

my goal with taking vitamin d is simply to get a good range of mid-high normal. I would expect that this will simply make my body run better and possibly offer unseen health benefits. if I were to come off of TRT then perhaps I would think it could raise my T level as well. but all in all, I am taking vitamin d because it's cheap, safe, and quite important for many body functions, regardless of how I feel psychologically.

Immune function has a direct correlation with gains. The Soviet weightlifting team went to Cuba every winter. I read an East German book by perhaps Hettinger that reported that optimized vit. D levels allowed for progress to be twice as fast I believe. I'm happy to hear your serious about vit. D. It's not nearly as sexy as anabolics are, but vital for your health.

I'm betting there are very few here in the high normal range for D , in my own experience as I've mentioned in other threads working outdoors in so cal for hours every day with no sunscreen left me very tan and deficient on the scale my lab was using at the time, might just be me but it took additional 5000 iu a day and four months to hit the high normal range. apparently we were designed to get quite a bit of sun. btw haven't been sick one day in two years and counting.
