28 yrs old TRT issues (help)
28 yrs old...5'9.. 190lbs.. Decent shape.. Iraq Veteran...Went to a private TRT clinic...Blood test results 280 ng/dl...Which was considered low.. 1 bottle of Test Cyp 200 was prescribed to me. I took 200mg (1 injection) evey other week untill it was done. The doctor told me to get tested 3 months after I finished my last injection to see where my levels were. This time I went to the VA hospital bc its free and my new blood test results are 3.03ng/ml.. .... I dont know if this is considered low... or whats the comparison to my old blood work ???.. Any help would be awesome!
The VA doctor wont call me back or anything.. So considering just going back to the private clinic witht the new results..Last edited by randy28; 05-07-2012 at 01:55 PM.

How long after your last injection did you get the blood draw for the VA test? The larger that gap of time, the lower your T values will be in your blood test.
Hard to believe a TRT clinic is still prescribing 200 mg (it's 200 mg not 200 ml) every other week. Go to a different clinic! The minimum should be an injection every week, and twice a week is even better. Obviously, the more frequent your injection the less you inject per injection. So for 200mg every two weeks, you would do 100 mg every week, or 50 mg every injection if injecting twice a week.
With more frequent injections, you will be on less of a roller coaster. I bet you felt great a couple days after your injection, and you felt like crap a week and a half later.
Generally speaking, the range you are shooting for is 500 (bottom of acceptable range) to 1100 (top of acceptable range). Of course, if your last shot was 2 weeks ago you will never be in that range. If you inject twice a week, your low value (blood taken right before your next scheduled T injection) should be about 700-900. This assumes you want to be in the upper quartile. You may end up needing/wanting higher or lower values, but this is a good starting point.Last edited by GotNoBlueMilk; 05-07-2012 at 01:50 PM.

The blood test was about 2 months after my last injection. They wanted to see if my body was going to jump start T on its own. What is the comparison from 280 ng/dl before to 3.03 ng/ml after ?

They give you ranges for those values? If not get them. How is a few shots of testosterone going to jump start your own production, there are so many other methods to do this and very few have decent results if any once you stop taking something. This one just sounds silly. But pretty sure 3.03 ng/ml is equivalent to 303 ng/dl, so technically that would be roughly little to no change.

Doctor finally email me back with the remaining blood work: LH 1.66 ml U/ML and FSH 2.87 ml U/ML.. dont even know what this means.. And yes 303 ng/ dl was correct.. He is telling me 300ng/dl is normal... Am I missing something here? I started out at 280 ng/dl

Basically it's malpractice. Start reading all the stickies and you will gain a ton of valuable knowledge to arm yourself for your next doctor/clinic appointment. In the Finding a TRT Physician Sticky there are a few links to sites that may help you find a reliable/knowledgeable TRT doc. Your LH/FSH are rock bottom as supplementing TRT shuts down your HPTA and natural production of testosterone ceases during this time.
You need to find the root cause of your low T. Whether it's testical related or pituitary related (primary or secondary) and then treat accordingly. Find a good doctor! There are also ways to try and stimulate your own natural production before you start down the long road of TRT. Your young and want to avoid it as long as possible. It would be good to post full BW with ranges from just before your injection protocol as well as after. Then we will be able to guide you much better.Last edited by kelkel; 05-07-2012 at 08:09 PM.

the first doc you went to was a moron...
he gave you exogenous testosterone which totally shut you down, depressed whatever natural T production you had, then had you come off cold turkey and basically tested your testosterone when it's starting to get back to "normal".
I am sorry you had to go through that, I'm sure it was not fun for you. find a real expert in male hormone repla***ent. if you are in a big city that's great, but search first before you make another appointment and waste your time, money and energy.
