Should I cycle on MY prescription
Hello, I am obviously new to testosterone , but I have been placed on this by my doctor. I am 38 years old and have been weight training for 16 years. recently my doctor prescribed me injectable cypionate because of a low sex drive and loss of energy. I am to take 200 mg every two weeks. I have asked numerous friends that take testosterone regularly with other such chemicals about my situation. I asked:
1. Will I get boobs?
2. will i get acne?
3. will I die?
4. Will I pack on a ton of weight?
5. should I take anything else, for health purposes only? Not growth.
The answers usually start with "your not gonna get big with that dose." I do not care if i gain muscle. I would perfer not to lose any of course. I work out hard. I want a good sex drive and energy, while being healthy. A close friend that played pro football told me that I should be cycling my dosage even though its small. He is very knowledgeable on the subject, at least I think he is. My doctor said nothing about coming off of this stuff, and continues to renew my prescription.
My questions to the experts is:
Should I cycle this?
What should I take in between?
When should I restart?
Should I take it if I wanna have kids?
How can I increase fertility, if I come off.
I ask you guys because the medical community appears to be a little behind the guys in the field (gym).
Thank you for your help...

First of all post all your blood work...Hopefully you had a full hormone panel done by your doctor?
What does he mean you should cycle this?? You always take your regular dose, unless you are adjusting or going to do a blast.
You should probably take 100mg a week split into to two doses... So 50 mg twice a week. Monday morning and Thursday night would work.
Restart?? Trt is usually for life.. Don't know what you mean by this.
You usually don't go off trt and hcg can keep you fertile..
You will need to get Estradiol checked to make sure you are at a healthy range... If e2 is out of range, you will need amridex or another Ai.
Welcome and goodluck!

Don't forget that us folks on the forums and your friends are good for an opinion, but make sure you ask your doctor those questions as well. No such thing as a stupid question in this case.
Your pro football friend is probably talking about using the normal dosage and increasing it, before returning back to normal. This is called blasting(more faze) and cruising(regular dose), try some searching on it. This is NOT though for you. It could be in the future if you choose, but you'd have to get the testosterone to blast not from your doctor and DO NOT start blasting until you are feeling good on TRT(normal dosages).
There is no restarting on TRT, its lifelong or you stop and go back to how you used to feel. HCG and an AI is usually needed. AI dosages depend on E2(estrogen) blood results and symptoms. You can still have kids, depending on usage of HCG, genetics...and luck....if you are trying and it is not working, clomid and other medications can be added and TRT might be stopped while trying to have a kid and then you go back on.

1. My doctor sent me for a blood draw about 14 months ago. If I remember correctly he said that my level was 440. He said that this was on the low end of normal. But my sex drive was really low at the time.
2. Pro football guy told me that you have to come off of test, even if its prescription. But once again he may not be aware of taking test for therapy instead of growth.
3. Ok, so smaller shots more frequently is better?
Is HCG something I should take forever as well?

All he did was a tesosterone blood test?? There is alot more tests you need to have done to look at the whole picture.. 440 is actually not that low for your age imo. I woulnd't start trt just for a low sex drive. You need more labs, definitely woulnd't go off something 14 months ago and when was the blood drawn?? Test levels should be drawn at 8am and will be highest then.
No, most don't come off once on trt...This is not like cycling, you stay on the dose you feel good at...And then some add something to blast, sort of like a cylce..
Alot of people take more frequent shots, but others still do one injection a week..... Smaller shots more frequently usually keep you from dipping so much.. Alot of guys are doing sub q shots. With an insulin syringe... You can pinch fat in stomach or legs and inject...It's alot less painfull then the large needles..
Not everyone uses Hcg , Hcg feels the pathways and gives people a better sense of well being, along with keeping your testicles functioning... There are stickies at the top that will tell you more about testosterone , hcg, pregnenolone, and much more.

The blood draw was 14 months ago. I have been on the testosterone ever since.
Is the HCG safe? I read up on it on this site. It sounds like I could get boobs from it, but it could make me healthier at the same time. This is confusing.Last edited by Old trainer; 08-12-2012 at 03:45 PM.

I also am on Testosterone . 2 5gm packets of 1% everyday. I understand your many questions, but strongly suggest that you read every post in this forum for TRT, the guys here have definatly explanied many aspects of the process and give great ideas for how to approach you doctor with procedures, and or levels that hould be monitored. I know for a fact that my doctor hasnt been checking several levels that he should and I have been creating a list just from reading the posts.
So keep reading, and do ask questions. Not properly treating low t, is from what I can tell worse than not treating the condition.

I'm only going to touch on a couple things. Your doctor does not understand the half-life of testosterone if he prescribes injections every two weeks. The half-life of test is app 5-7 days. So, the first week you'll feel great. The second week you'll progressively feel worse. Therefore, like Hack said, minimum every week or the lower split of every 3.5 days. 100mg per week would be a good start then adjust via BW.
Will you get boobs? Hopefully yes, and they're attached to a hot female. But seriously, your E will follow your T. Meaning as your T rises so will your E, which is why you need to monitor it with a sensitive E2 assay. It's about balance. Yes, you should be on HCG for a variety of reasons including backfilling needed hormonal pathways as well as testicular shrinkage.
As the guys stated above, take time and read and re-read the stickies. You'll find proper BW there as well as a new write up on the importance of Estrogen as well as HCG.
Welcome to the forum Old Trainer. Good place, good people. You'll learn alot if you hang around!

Welcome Old Trainer, this is the place for the absolute best information. Don't ask pro football any more questions he will just confuse you.

Split the dose bi-weekly. This way it stays steady in the body. If you take it every other week it will peak by day 6 or 7 and it will be virtually useless.
