Does giving whole blood effectively reduce hematocrit levels?
To effectively reduce red blood cell count, hemoglobin and hematocrit, shouldn't you give double red cells blood? If you give whole, although total bllood volume decreases don't your %s stay the same? I gave whole blood and my levels did not change significantly. I recently gave double red cells, I know that will have an impact.

i tried to give double reds and they said i don't qualify due to my weight! no fvcking clue what that means, but love to give double reds. i would assume giving double reds reduces % much more, but if you give two pints of whole blood it would be the same, i know we can't give two pints at once, but i think the problem is not whole blood vs. doubles, we simply need to give more often because TRT raises RBC faster than the once every two month donation. even if you give doubles you have to wait 3-4 months to give a gain! so at the end its the same. more often is the key, and thats why i do one in between.
