No pain at injection site...Quads
Hello all,
I have been injecting 100mg per week per Dr. orders for about 6 weeks now. Everything has been great , but I do have a question for you all. Sometime when I object my quads, 22 guage 1" needle
, I get virtually no pain whatsoever. Even when I push the needle in, it doesn't hurt. other times it feels like you would expect a needle going into your skin would. I am doing exactly like it says everywhere I read. ( outside of quad, middle of leg hand length over knee and hand length below hip in large muscle ) is this just luck or is this kind of the sweet spot for no pain whatsoever? I usually look away when I am pushing needle in, then before I know it it is all the way in. Thanks for listening.

Hi Fireguy,
First, take a look at www.spot injections .com (close spaces on link. Had to do that for site filter) which will help you out. I don't do quads myself but my god man, get yourself at least a 25 or 27 ga needle instead of harpooning yourself with that monster. No need for all that tissue damage. Get some 18 ga tips for loading purposes then switch it to the smaller pin. You won't feel it.
Welcome to the forum.

I use a 22 x 1.5" all the time. It's really NOT that bad!
Two things that come to mind regarding pain.
First. I use a fine atomizer to hose down the injection site with alchohol. not allowing it to completely dry can cause pain if you inadvertantly pull in some of that alchohol into the injection site.
Second. Nerve endings are not like a blanket, but more like a spider web under the skin and in the muscles. Much of the time, due to very small diameter of needle, you will miss the nerves entirely, so not much pain. But every once in a while, with much pain, is probably because somewhere you harpooned a nerve.
If it bothers you, just reinject.
Good luck!

You guys are tougher than me then. Once you use a 25-27 you'll never go back, IMHO. Great description of nerve endings TR. Perfect.

no thanks, 28 g. x 5/8 sq for me!
OP, what is you body fat %? if you have good amount of fat you could be pinning in the fat only! and therefore no pin!

Used a 25g, 1 inch to push 2.5ml of gear in each trap yesterday. Today my right trap down to my shoulder feels like someone took a friggin hammer to it!
I've pinned pecs, calves, glutes, quads, biceps, but hell no I ain't doing traps again. My gawd this sheit hurts like a mofo. Can barely move my arm at all. Damn it!!!!!!!!

Glutes, delts, glutes, delts. I could not imagine traps, biceps or calves. Jeez..just sounds painful.

This thread made me cringe!
The first time I tried with a 25g into the quad it wouldnt even break the skin, and just pushed it... hurt like a mofo! Tried the next week in a slightly new spot and I couldn't walk right for like 2 days. I know part of this was just using an injection site for the first time.
Since switching to a 29g, however, the difference is immense. It goes in easier, virtually painless. Since doing 29g in the delts though... I don't even do glutes or quads much anymore.

25g ones today though and try that out.
As for drawing with an 18, 19, 20 etc does it really make a difference with gauge you use to draw with?

I draw with a 20 gauge and inject my quads with a 23 gauge 1" because that's all the pharmacy had when I went there! Those idiots tried to sell me insulin needles and didn't understand what "I need a lower gauge" means. They go "so you need a smaller needle?" Between clueless doctors and clueless pharmacies, I laugh at having "the best healthcare in the world".

When it comes to injecting in the quads you have nerve areas as well as arteries and veins to avoid. If you start pushing in and you feel your nerve start twitching pull back out and try another spot all while checking for visible veins to avoid spiking. After a while you get used to where to hit. As far as pins I use a 25g. I have 27 and 29 but I dont have all day to inject so I stick to 25 max.
