Looking for a DR in Huntsville Alabama area

I was diagnosed at the beginning of 2011 with low test levels. At that time I had very little knowledge on the subject. All I knew is my energy levels were extremely low to be 28 years old. My doc prescribed me T2 3GM and I was to apply 10 drops to forearm twice a day. My doc had very little knowledge on low test levels. I then asked the doc about preserving my natural test, especially since I hope to have kids one day. Lets just say the doctor was pretty clueless on this. She said she was going to call another doctor and ask if something was needed for that. Long story short I am sure I am not getting the right treatment and I shouldn't have waited this long to look for another doc. The following is my blood work details. I imagine the doctor should have tested other things besides the ones listed. I have called around and asked other Doctors if they were familiar with Dr. Crisler's protocols. So far no luck. I stopped applying the drops over a month ago. I am willing to drive a distance if needed for an initial visit if I know I will get the proper treatment. I also need to make sure they will accept my BCBS insurance. Thanks to all the info on this site concerning HRT. I have learned a lot.

    TSH, 3RD GENERATION - 2.96 Range .40-4.50 mIU/L
    T4, FREE - 1.3 Range .8-1.8 ng/dL
    T3, FREE - 3.5 Range 2.3-4.2 pg/mL
    TESTOSTERONE , FREE AND TOTAL, LC/MS/MS - 197 Range 250-1100 ng/dL
    FREE TESTOSTERONE - 69.9 Range 35.0 - 155.0 pg/mL

I also have things like urea nitrogen, creatinine, vitamin d,d3,d2, sodium potassium. protein, white and red blood cell count, hemoglobin, platelet count, absolute monocytes, monocytes, etc. if I need to list those out as well.

I'm hoping this is pre-TRT correct? Just edit and add ranges to your post please. Post up your other levels if possible as well. The more we can see the better which gives us a chance to make an accurate assessment. Have you read the Finding a Physician Sticky and tried some of the search engines there? When it comes to Crisler I do not believe he accepts insurance. So many are that way anymore.

    Welcome Ace

Thanks kelkel. Not sure what you mean when you say edit and add ranges? Yes this was pre-trt but my bloodwork was never checked again to see if things had improved. I will post up all the details to the blood work tomorrow. I wasn't sure if the other stuff would apply to the HRT. I did briefly read through the sticky. Found a few leads that way but no one knew who Crisler was.

If you have the lab work in front of you look for the reference ranges next to each of your scores; that's what kel is talking about. All labs have different lab ranges so it's important to see what we are comparing it to.

But let me say this; you need to find a Physician who understands TRT in men, the women you are seeing now has no clue and can end up hurting you even more believe it or not.

Most Doc's not in the Anti Aging vertical or an A4M Physician are not going to know who Crisler is so don't go down that path. What you want to do is present his papers on managing men who are hypogonadal and see if they are willing to follow those guidelines.

Without ranges these panels still look very concerning:

    TSH, 3RD GENERATION - 2.96
For a 28 year old this is way to high and while it's still in the reference range it should be below 1!

    T4, FREE - 1.3
    T3, FREE - 3.5
FT4 converts to FT3 and while there is no range it appears you're converting well so the Thyroid may be functioning fine.

    TESTOSTERONE , FREE AND TOTAL, LC/MS/MS - 197
    FREE TESTOSTERONE - 69.9
No range but both seem low to me no matter what reference range we want to look at.

Here's what I am going to tell you; you need a proper diagnosis as to why you are so low. Now is not the time to focus on TRT protocols as you need to understand why it is that your serum levels are so low...especially when at your age you should be peaking.

Find the right Doctor and get the right help and find out what is causing your problem first and foremost...then take it from there.
