New to TRT worried about Sperm counts
I have low T 116 and a Free T of 5.3. I have been trying to get the future wife pregnant for 4 years. Which is how I found out about this. Just thought I was different than everyone for the longest time. Now I'm anxious but nervous to get on T. My sperm count was normal at 110.3 million and I'm wondering how much will the therapy effect this? Current Endo will not prescribe T until we are successful in trying. However I called a low t clinic who suggested I get on T now. I'm afraid of the possibility of never being able to produce swimmers again. Advice and/or thoughts? I'm anxious to get on TRT as I feel I have lost focus, no energy, tired, really lost interest in the gym after finding this out but still go on a regular basis, and other common symptoms associated with low T.

If your fertility count was "normal" and I don't what the 110.3 million means without a reference range...but I'd wait till your prego before starting TRT.
Interesting that your serum levels are low yet normal sperm count...you a young guy?

Yes 27. I'm very active 5'7 7 176lbs 15-16% body fat. I have a large brain cyst. The endo is blaming the cyst putting pressure on the hypothalamus in turn not sending signals to the testicles to produce testosterone . 101.5 million with 20 million or greater is a normal sperm count. All other tests in that department came back normal besides a low volume, which was my error.

She has had the basic tests done but nothing in depth as of yet. She is waiting for her yearly appointment to have another look. All tests previously came back normal besides an ovarian cyst that has come and gone 5 years ago. She's in no hurry right now due to the wedding. I'm getting inpatient with her and want to know how it feels to have a normal t level. I think she kind of understands as well as. After all my libido of course is very low. She is suggesting I take the plunge but I fear of the possibility of not ever producing sperm and/or having a long wait after stopping trt.

Has there been any research done on trt and fertility success rates, using hcg in conjunction with trt to maintain high counts, or the time elapsed causing decreased sperm count or time of normal production of sperm? Any past experiences with this issue?

You can always freeze and store your sperm at a clinic before you get on TRT.
That's what I did.
Even though I want another kid, my health and well being is a priority and decided I owe it to myself to take care of my needs as well.

That's a good thought ill look into that. I'm wondering if that is an out of pocket expense or will my insurance cover this ?

It was out of pocket, but nothing crazy expensive.
There is a yearly storage fee , still not so unreasonable.

I will be getting a semen analysis done in about 3 weeks. I started TRT 7 weeks ago (sperm count was normal prior) and am monitoring to see if levels decline, and by how much. If it seems to drastic, i'm coming off TRT until we have another kid (thank God for my first!!). Subscribed.

called to check insurance coverage. Doesn't sound like they will cover the bank. Im going to the doctor tomorrow and asking for hcg with the trt. I found a place that freezes locally so ill head there prior to receiving the injections. Im curious to see your results gbrice

Basically all you do is go and make a "deposite" at the bank.
They collect all the good swimmers and put them into a vial for freezing.
I had a low sperm count before going on TRT, so I had to make 3 trips
to the bank before I had enough fill the vial.
Make sure you check with the sperm bank for recommendations before you go make a deposit.
I know that you have refrain from sexual intercourse for at least 48 hours before making a deposit.
This also includes masturbation.
They also may have certain rules about which soaps you use, some soaps may kill the sperm if it comes in contact.
Also, I have been reading a lot about how alcohol can affect fertility for men and women.
Even so much as one glass a day.
The news is not all bad, though – the upside is that the harmful effects of alcohol can be reversed
just by abstaining from alcohol — ideally for the 120 days it takes to form healthy sperm and
mature a healthy egg as well as throughout conception attempts, pregnancy and lactation.
This is the surest way to optimize your natural fertility for a lively, natural conception and/or
dramatically increase your odds of a healthy pregnancy through IVF (if necessary).

gb - Don't rush it my friend; we've seen many men here who are on TRT prescribed protocols and they have gotten their wives prego.
Good to get the count for sure but you may be surprised to see it hasn't declined a great deal.
I forgot, are you taking HCG as well...please say "yes"!!!

Let me put your fears to rest......
230 Total Test = Pregnant wife
1200 Total Test = Pregnant wife
I knocked her up once in the lowest part of my life before TRT, and then knocked her up again on a big blast. Don't sweat it, if you got swimmers, it will happen.
