Going back on TRT, Delivery Method, Pellets...etc
I discontinued my relationship with my well known TRT doctor up in Michigan. I just couldn't take being nickled and dimed for everything, along with his and his staff's unprofessionalism and unpreparedness. (yes I'm taking a dig if you know who I'm talking about)
Anyways, I have a new local endocrinologist that has ran me through the litany of blood test, MRI on the pituitary..etc. I am secondary hypo-gonadal with no tumor thank goodness. She is all set to put me back on TRT. I've been off for 3 months.
I have done test cyp for the last year and a half. I was wondering about pellets. Would you recommend them or not? The option is available to me if I want them or should i just stick with the weekly shots?
My prior doc had me on 250IU of hcg twice a week as well. Should I request to be prescribed that too or does it really matter?
Thanks in advance

Why are you going back on TRT? I'm not even clear why you came off other than maybe you lost access? I imagine after the 12 week mark, things finally start to look better when you're coming off TRT.
Personally, I wouldn't go with pellets. BUT I'm not saying I discourage it. The thing with pellets is that you are super duper tied to the medical system. You literally need minor surgery to get your drugs. I hate having to fight with CVS to figure out whats on backorder or not, but at least I don't need to get stitches .
But really, the idea of pellets seems to be nice... set it and forget it (Ronco anyone?). It might take some time to fine tune, but if your doctor is willing to start you on a decent dose then it might be worth considering. Make sure your doctor has the same goals you have. Some doctors say you just need to be "normal" but nobody on this forum would settle for a total T of 350-400. Many ill-informed doctors will.
You were on cyp for a year and a half, how did you like that?

yes make sure you get hCG unless you don't care about your gonads disappearing!

I came off trt because I did lose access. My followup with the yes "famous doctor" didn't go well so I had to search out for a new doc go through all the testing...etc
My LH and FSH levels are really low the signal is not getting sent to my testes to produce. As I said I went through numerous test (blood, mri, hemotomocris genetic testing) to find out why my pituitary is not sending the signal but nothing has really been found out to why. My new doc has chocked it up to environmental toxins. I don't know if that is the reason or not but trt is needed nonetheless.
I talked to my new doc and let her know that low normal based on reference points doesn't make a person normal and she totally agreed so preliminarily it appears I have a knowledgeable doc. She even does transgender hrt.
I can't say that I felt much different on test cyp in the past other than my libido going through the roof. : ) My fiancée says I am leaps and bonds a different and better person.
The one big negative to trt was the increase in acne and exasperation of scalp folliculitis. I wonder if different forms like propinate, ethanate..etc might work better for me.
My new doc did a gonadal size test and said my gonads were normal. I havn't taken hcg in 5 months, but coming off trt my test levels were off the charts low.Last edited by bucknut24; 10-17-2012 at 01:48 PM.
