Is HCG *really* effective in preserving fertility with TRT?
Hi,
I read/hear claims that HCG can be used with TRT to preserve testicle size and fertility.
Can anyone point me to any clinical trials that validate this - ie measure fertility of men on TRT?
My recent T was 239, so I'm supposed to start TRT. Trying to decide between T cream + HCG vs Clomid. Recommendations anyone? I"m new to all this...
thanks!

Did you read the sticky on HCG at the top of the forum???
Google is your friend...
BTW, HCG is the "go to" analog for boosting fertility in men...it's used routinely.

This forum highly recommends using HCG in combination with testosterone from the get-go. I do know that your average endocrinologist idiot will not prescribe any HCG for normal testosterone therapy when you aren't trying to have children. For example, I have seen two different endocrinologists and both wanted me to take Androgel for years and years until I eventually wanted to have children (I'm still relatively young) and only at that point start HCG, stop testosterone, and 'try' to become fertile at that point. That would be pretty dumb if you could just be using HCG the entire time and not risk becoming infertile, as well as having the ability to stay on TRT while trying to have children. I've read the sticky multiple times but I'm still not 100% on this point. Any clarification? Will HCG keep you fertile the whole time? Why the hell would endo's not prescribe this?

If you are not Primary; yes, HCG will keep the testes functioning correctly making a restart much easier.
Endo's simply don't know since HCG, at least until recently, was being used off label for TRT protocols and most Physician's are just not trained...hell xtitan1, you know more than most Docs now!

Not entirely true; it's no good in keeping your testes functioning if Primary because they can't function anymore for any host of reasons.
However, HCG is defined by some clinicians as a true "sex hormone" in that it operates on the neuro level and can have very positive effects for men like increased sense of well being, increased libido and impact the conversion of Cholesterol into Pregnenolone in other parts of the males body where it's produced.
In fact, Dr. Crisler prescribes it to most, if not all, of his patients on a daily transdermal Primary and Secondary.

I'm primary and Shippen is going to put me on HCG for the reasons you list.

Thanks everyone.
I have read of a few people on TRT and HCG and were still infertile at the end of it...
Unfortunately my urologist has never prescribed it, so I'm trying to figure all this out myself.
I've also read about using HCG AND HMG - do people here recommend that too?
thanks!

Yeah I saw a urologist too bro and he didn't even know the first thing about HcG , let alone ever prescribe it. Time to start looking for a source. I hate that it has to come to that but I'm more concerned with my health than how the HcG is obtained.
