Combatting Prolactin safely?
Hey guys, I am very interested in seeing how I feel if I can lower my Prolactin levels. As you may or may not know, my Doc is mess and will not be swayed into ordering any test results other than the "standards". Meaning, I have no concrete evidence, just a sneaking suspicion(and continuing libido issues), that my prolactin levels are at the very least moderately above average. So my question is: Are there any conservative ways to reduce prolactin levels, just to see if I notice any change at all? I've heard that L-Dopa, L-Tyrosine, and B6 may lower levels. I wanted to ask the experts here though if they had any experience in keeping prolactin in check, safely. I've also read a little about Caber, but my doc won't even test my levels, let alone begin to think about prescribing off label. I'd just like to see if I could get the ole sex drive revved up a bit more..

why don't you do the test on your own?!

^^Exactly this. Privatemedlabs.com. And begin searching for a competent doc who cares how you actually feel! Otherwise you're just throwing darts.

Well guys, while I definitely agree that testing is the way to go instead of guessing, a large obstacle for me is the price of testing. I cannot afford $45 for a single prolactin test. The more I learn about TRT the more I realize that if you want competent care, and a protocol that actually works you need to have $$. Proper TRT=disposable income. For myself, if Blue Cross, Blue Shield doesn't cover it, or the doc isn't on the list I can't have it. Of course I'd love to be able fly to Crisler or any of the other top guys, and be put on a proper protocol. But thats probably not happening anytime soon, I work with what I have. It's a privelage to order whatever tests you want, when you want them. It's also a privelage to be able to tell your TRT doc what you want to try and have them listen. Most doctors will not prescribe AI's, and HcG . If they do, I'm sure you guys pay out of pocket for those prescriptions. I'm not trying to disrespect you guys with my whiny rant but to make you aware of the plight of the no/low budget man trying to obtain competent treatment with minimal out of pocket expense and a shitty network of close minded, HMO physicians.

Damn Spoony. Sorry to hear this and I do understand. Is there any way to switch docs within your network to try and find one who will help you with this? Or are you just stuck with the one you have now?

Yeah, sorry to hear this, but it's definitely a fact that if someone is looking to get a complete, high quality HRT program, there will be some $$ needed. I guess it's relative to each individual's situation. It's not as pricey as getting on GH therapy or some other programs, but a good HRT protocol requires a thorough BW management review, a competent & accommodating physician/clinic, and the necessary medications/supplements to optimize one's health & wellness.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone go to a clinic? There aren't any clinics here in my area, but there may be some in or near Boston. I'm just wondering as to what out of pocket costs on some of the basics are? Such as labs, Test, and appointment fees. And also, if a clinic would accept an insurance plan, if correctly coded. Thanks again for the input guys, and I do apologize for being a whiny bitch, but I'm frustrated and have been wondering a lot lately if jumping into HRT by my docs reccomendation was a hasty i.e. bad decision. My nuts hurt a lot lately and my testicles are noticeably smaller, but the doc doesn't see that as a concern. I hate the idea of black market gear but, I need to find a way to get and afford some HcG .

From a good clinic it'll between $2000 to $2600 per year, if you can find a good doctor that will give you the prescription it may cost about $1500 to $1800 per year.

Don't really know of any clinics taking insurance. There might be some, but I'm sure it's far and few between. I know mine doesn't, but I'd rather pay the amount I do to get the quality I mentioned above. Sadly, I have Kaiser for my PCP, and if they were in tune to any of this, I'd be paying $10 for my meds, and $10 for labs. My insurance is fully paid, so this could and should be a very economically friendly proposition. However, we all know how this show goes, thus I take another course of direction!
