Lab recommendation
Hey Guys,
I'm spent many hours over last couple of weeks trying to get a handle on this thing. What I've figured out so far is that it may be best for me to DIY my TRT. My insurance doesn't cover TRT and it's a bit out of an economic hardship at the moment to pay out of pocket- as I'd have to fly to a larger island like Oahu to get treatment. I actually have enough confidence in the knowledge of this board combined with Dr. Crisler's Advice Only Consultation to try this. I don't have major concerns about non-pharm product either. I was wondering if any of you guys have come to this conclusion and are doing this.
I'm a 52 year old male, 6'1 185 lbs. in pretty good shape and health, but recently I noticed signs of andropause which is obviously age-related.
I had some basic BW done recently.
My total testosterone is 245 ng/dl range 193-740, DHEA Sulfate is 151 ug/dl range 38-313, Progesterone is 0.5 ng/ml range 0.2-1.4, TSH w/reflex to Free T4 is 5.17 uIU/ml range 0.27-4.20
Dr. told me everything is fine except for the TSH and I have an appointment with an endo to get more comprehensive BW. I will try to convince him to do BW recommended by Crisler. If I'm not able to get that, could you guys please recommend a lab that does? Through the mail of course.
I'm going to start a 250 mg. weekly Test E protocol and I was also hoping to get advice on hcg and anastrozole dosage. I've gotten great advice from the guys over at Anabolic Steroids Q&A, but I wanted to hear from you guys too. Thanks a lot.Last edited by HawaiiLifr; 11-12-2012 at 09:34 PM.

250mg is way more than what you should probably start with. I bet you would feel a world of difference with just 100mg/week, or maybe 75mg E5D. You'll get some more in depth advice shortly I'm sure.

Hi, and welcome, 250mg a week is way too high a dose to start off, You never know how your body is going to react, everyone is different. You should try and find a ani-aging clinic or male clinic in your area that offers TRT. Check out the stickies above and read how to pick a doctor. Then you can get some blood work and see what's going on inside, you might have other problems causing your symptoms. I'm sure some Vets will chime in very soon.
Good luck

Your TSH is high and needs to be addressed prior to starting any trt program. Hypothyroidism and low testosterone can share the same symptoms.
Also, 250mg/w is a very liberal dose. Most guys start out at 100mg/w and find their t levels are in the high end of the range. More is not always better when getting on a proper protocol. I tried different doses and found that anything above 120mg/w makes me feel like shiat and also raises my hemoglobin levels.

Get your thyriod/tsh all set before undertaking the TRT. Starting with 250 mg a week is crazy. Start with 100-150 no more. Go slow and verify with blood work
