Did your sleep issues getter better once on TRT or HCG?
Hey guys I started my journey on trying to raise my T levels (last test was very low less than 100) and live a better, more enjoyable life. I just started clomid at 25 mg EOD and am going to see how I react and if I am not feeling better after a month or two I will explore other options (I'm 29 and have a thread if interested). Anyway I have had terrible sleep the last few years and all the docs say it is caused by my low T. I even had a sleep study conducted to rule out sleep apnea. So did you have poor sleep before starting TRT or HCG , etc? Has your sleep improved dramatically since starting treatment? Happy Thanksgiving btw!

Mine has gotten better, but the only thing I get is night sweats. Not all the time. Some not bad, but sometimes it's a shirt changer. I sleep with a shirt over my pillow just in case.

I had horrible insomnia prior to.starting trt. Took ativan at night and that helped somewhat. The insomnia did lighten up with trt, however, it wasn't until i started supplimenting with vitamin d3 (4000iu)/day that i really noticed my sleep getting MUCH better. Google d3 and sleep. I guess it could be placebo, but it helps me a lot. Now granted, Im a teacher , so I am not out in the sunlight all day. I had bw done and found I was deficient. Might be something for you to look into. Good luck

At first it didn't, but then my Endo decided to test me for sleep apnea, which the test revealed I had a severe case of. So now since I began CPAP therapy, I'm sleeping so much better. Not directly correlated to the TRT, but if I wasn't on TRT, I doubt my Endo would have recommended I get tested.

The past 5 to 6 years my sleep has been pretty bad..It has gotten a little better after starting trt 2 years ago.I also get the night sweats from time to time and yes they really mess with my sleep.I also Do not have sleep apnea but this is stll a issue with me.I just think some people have a lot going on in their heads at nite and it can affect certain people's sleep....Are you on any other medication Louie other than clomid?

Thanks for the replys guys! I am really wondering if my low T is causing my sleep issues or my sleep issues are causing my low T? It sounds like you guys have seen a little improvement, but nothing significant (is that right)? I was hoping that getting my Low T issues corrected would be a game changer when it comes to sleep.
J Diesel3- Nope nothing besides the clomid.
If anyone else has any info/ experiences regarding low T and their sleep I'd love to hear it.

That is interesting, I hadn't even realized a connection between TRT and night sweats. I have been noticing lately when I get up to pee (usually around 1 or 2am), sometimes the collar of my shirt and shoulder area is cold and wet, and sometimes I have to take my shirt off. As well, on occassion my pillow is wet, and I have to flip it over. I wasn't sure why I was sweating more -- especially because I am in Canada and it is not hot out! -- but now I realize it is the Testosterone I have been doing for almost 4 months.
Is this likely to get better with time? Any solutions besides the "shirt over the pillow"? Anyone know why it even happens?

From what i read, it's probably a hormone imbalance. I do my injection once a week. So it raises and drops through the week. That's why the subq multiple times a week will level it out or 2 im injections instead of one.

I have a history of really bad sleep and I saw an improvement when I started my current protocol.
In my situation, i think the following is helping:
More intense workouts
Sermorelin/GHRP 6 at bed time
Melatonin 1 hour before sleep (5mg)
I didn't have any night sweats with what I am taking now and the first 10 days were terrible for sleep since I think the hormone bump was somewhat of a shock to my system.
Cheers
J

Thats great to hear, so maybe my low T is causing my terrible sleep.
I tried melatonin for a while and it did help some, I was still waking up in the middle of the night frequently. I think the melatonin helps more with getting you to sleep, not so much with staying asleep. I also tried a supplement called fatigues to fantastic sleep formula that had valerian root, hops, and some other herbs and aminos and that helped some days, but not others. I would also wake up kind of out of it some mornings too. I also tried magnesium, and zma, but they didn't help that much either. After my sleep study ruled out sleep apnea, the doctor prescribed me a sleeping pill and anti-anxiety pill, but I declined to take either.
I also tried the intense workouts, but that only made things worse and my recovery was beyond bad. I was doing some short crossfit workouts mixed with some heavy (for me) lifts.

From your opeening post, your test is really low. Sleep is one of the most important things in life. When i was having an impossible time getting to sleep, I was prescribed the same two things. I took them and finally started getting good qaulity sleep. After a couple of months, t started moving up (i take testim) , so I tapered off.the pills. No need for them anymore now that my t level.is in the 600's and i take d3. You do whats best for you, but short term use of ativan or ambien (at least for me) was a life-changer when i so desperately needed some sleep. Its impossible to over emphasize the importance of sleep.
Edit: not disagreeing with you, Mytee. Just my personal experience.Last edited by Rusty11; 11-25-2012 at 09:30 AM.

No wonder it is very hard for me to fall asleep..it is been like that for years...I was thinking low magnesium and low vit d levels..but it could be low test..i ve been taking trytophan and melatonin every night with zma..other than that it takes me at least an hour to fallasleep..it effects your daily activities and even your meal plan..hopefully things will get better.
