Doc Says I Need to Lower SHBG

I'm a 32 yr. old male that's 5'-10" 200 lbs. @11-12% bf that's not on hrt. I've done plenty of aas cycles (w/ proper PCT) in the past and wanted to get my test levels checked and here are the results:

    Testosterone , Total--615.67 (350-890 ng/dL)
    SHBG--35 (13-71 nmol/L)
    Testosterone, Free--129.2 (47.0-244.0 pg/mL)

Doc said that my total test and free test numbers looked good, but he said my SHBG was kinda high which was lowering my bioavailable test. He crunched a few numbers and said my bioavailable test was 290 which he said was kinda low as he likes for most of his patients to be around the 400-500 range. He said if we can lower SHBG to say 20 then that would put my bioavailable around the 500 in which he said libido should be better as well as muscle gains. Does this make since guys? My doc specializes in hrt but I told him I wasn't interested in hrt at the moment, especially since my total test number looks good, and he agreed. He told me this all over the phone and wanted to meet with me to discuss our options but that's a few weeks away.

Vit D3 will lower your SHBG and improve your free T. Great hormone to take. Your shbg really isn't that high, but dropping it lower will allow more free T. Other than adding test which is the quickest way to suppress shbg or using prescription Danazol, vit D is probably your best path. Also look into nettle root / avenocosides. Free T plays a part in libido but there's more to it than just that.

Thanks for the reply Kel! How much D3 would you suggest? I already take 4000iu D3 every morning. I believe my doc mentioned Danazol, so I guess I'll wait until our apt and see what he says. I've used 250mg nettle root extract w/ 3g of DAA in the past and did feel like it gave me a boost in test but I don't have blood work to support it. I'm trying to avoid taking any test boosters at the moment until I meet w/ the doc again in 2 weeks. I may have misguided you but my libido isn't horrible, I still have plenty of sex drive but I think it could be better.

How much depends on what you tested at. If you haven't tested it then have your doc call you in a script to test your 25 Hydroxy to see where your at. I'm not a fan of test boosters. Vit D and nettle made a difference for me with my shbg. I do a prescription D called Drisdol which is 50K IU D2 once a week as well as 5K OTC product. But, I encourage testing first to guide you.

Would it be alright to take Nettle Root and Vitamin D3 together?

Good to know! Thanks! Is it bad to push your SHBG too low?

Solid advice bro, thanks! How much nettle did you take to lower your SHBG? Is it nettle root or nettle root extract? I've taken Now brand stinging nettle root extract (250mg per pill) in the past and actually still have some at the house. My doc actually mentioned nettle root but said we would discuss my next apt.

Mine is Stinging Nettles (Urtica Dioica,) 480mg per cap. I take two per day. Now, when I started my D and Nettle protocol I upped my T dose by 40mg per week (20 & 20) for a few weeks as well as it it the quickest way to lower shbg. Then came back to my normal T dose and maintained the D / Nettle protocol. It did make a difference in my shbg level.
