Long Term Health Effects of AI?

Does anyone know the effects of taking an AI like anastrazole long term like 20 years plus? Has anyone here been on AI for that long?

Good question... I would like to hear what others have to say on this. Right now I am on .25mg 2x a week. I am trying to back all the way down if I can. Have some new E2 reading that should be back tomorrow.

What does that consist of and hows it working for you?

Couldn't say but the dosage for TRT is usually very low, like .5 to 1mg per week so I doubt it would have much of an effect.

I have not heard of any OTC that were effective or at least not very. High doses of B6 can be used to control prolactin but it has it's own negative side effects.
This is from the Q&A section earlier today.
    Primary Prolactin Inhibitor Supplements:
    1) Vitamin B6
    2) Vitamin E
    3) SAM-e
    Secondary Prolactin Inhibitor Supplements:
    1) Ginseng extract
    2) Maca powder
    3) Ashwagandha
    4) Mucuna pruriens
    5) Zinc
    6) Ginkgo Biloba

Agree with lovbyts, I know of no known OTC remedy that will do what a prescription AI can do...if there was we'd all be on it.

Consider first the doses men take are far far below what women take as anti cancer medication.

Women have been using an AI to control estrogen levels for decades and as far as I know there haven't been any long term consequence.

Now men are not women but I think any reasonable mind would think the outcome would be similar.

Work on your protocol (go twice per week) as well as lowering body fat and strive to improve your free T. All this can play into eventually losing the AI from your current protocol.

I take grape seed extract and a OTC product by Purus Labs called "recycle". I have mentioned it in other posts. My sensitive has been in the 20's the whole time(9 months to be exact).

Good for you, we're all different and glade it's working for you.

Keep in mind different protocols reduce E2 levels when serum levels are consistent; that's precisely why men who use a daily transdermal almost never need an AI.

If your injecting twice weekly or SQ even more frequently, have low BF, eat right and exercise you may not even those supplements to be honest.

What were your E2 levels before starting with the OTC supps?

We're they elevated and did you see serum levels lower when you added the supps in?

Test serum level went up. I can't remember exactly my e2 before trt. I believe it was low 30's and test was 140. I have been doing 100mg of cyp a week. Level now at 690. I know things work differently for people. I was just answering his question of what i use. I was thinking of getting off my supps for the next 12 weeks to see what my E2 would be without it.

I'm a newbie here but i can tell you that when i took an AI for a month (.25mg/ twice a week) my cholesterol went up 50 points. I just did the last month without ai and my cholesterol dropped back down 50 points.

My goal now is to get to a point where i no longer need an ai or at the worst use it one week every month or so. I See people using a lot more than i used and i can only imagine the effects long term. Drug is extremely strong and take it from me who thought i wasn't doing too much all the while i tanked my estradiol and raised my cholesterol. Be weary of using too much ai.

    The short answer is "No"

For me, I'm looking for a way to get off Rx AI's altogether. Smaller, more frequent dosing seems promising even for someone like me who aromatizes a LOT. I've been slowly chipping away on the weekly mg of anastrozole.

I'm not sure that just because something is OTC that it is safer.

I don't think many people have been on an AI over 10 years because TRT is still in its infancy for the most part. But some guys are pretty close to that. I kind of prefer Aromasin since it's better on the lipids, and easier to keep E2 at a good spot. I don't see why it would be any problem if all your numbers are good.
