    TRT and insomnia

    Has anyone else experienced insomnia?

Sometimes at night I feel as though I have boundless energy and could go for hours. Yes, a good thing but not when trying to get sleep.

It's like i'm peaking 24/7, great except when its time for bed. have pulled a couple all nighters just studying, listening to music, etc, something i have never done

Have you gotten bloodwork recently? I'd be interested to see the results. Some get insomnia, I don't. But there's always an underlying reason.

I am usually tired at night & have no issues going to bed. Prior to trt I had a very difficult time getting to sleep.

Every once in a while I feel as you described. Last night was one of those nights but it didn't matter since we were up all night on runs thanks to St Patties & all the drunks out on the road & no shortage of bar fights.

When did you start your protocol?

Many men who have been HPTA suppressed for some time experience a Dopamine rush when they first start up their TRT protocol.

This would explain why you feel like you do if you started recently.

    Libido pretty good?

It will settle down in time as the body gets used to the new serum levels.

Have you tried taking melatonin? I consider it to be part of my HRT regime and take 10mg every night. Usually helps me feel sleepy in 30 minutes or so...

Melatonin works really well for getting to sleep & doesn't leave me with the hangover feeling when I get up for work at 05:30.

From what you posted these look good.

Need to see E2 sensitive, however.

After 9 weeks you should be settled into your protocol so I doubt it's a Dopamine issue but one never knows.

You EQ may be symptomatic of elevated E2...any other symptoms?

I guess a touch of erection issues, but sometimes it is a non issue and theyre perfect.

acne has come back a little, have had a touch of burning nipples but not common

I really need to get the exact E2 number from my doc, if the letter doesn't come in the mail soon I will call him back.

Just to piggyback on what others have said: in nearly 3 months of TRT, the one thing that I have learned is that you have to become the master of your own fate in this journey. Your E2 (and whether it is the right E2 assay) test is not even a blip on the screen of your Dr.

While you may feel like hell, have itchy nipples, poor libido, panic attacks, on and on; your dr. hasn't thought twice about your BW. You have to take the lead. If it's taking too long to get the BW from the Dr, call the lab yourself. Call and pester the dr. and get him/her to fax it to you now.

Stepping down from the soapbox. This is YOUR health. That is all.

I am not an expert, but I don't think it is addictive or that you can become dependent on it? I know I take it every night, regardless of whether I feel the need for a "sleep helper".

It is a lot more than just a sleep aid, and as I say, part of my own HRT. You can listen to a ton of info on it at Superhuman Radio: http://www.***************.com/564-b...g-miracle.html

EDIT: The forum software mangled my URL... just google "super human radio episode #565"....

From personal experience I became tolerant to a 5mg does of melatonin after about 3 weeks, upped my dosage to 10mg for another two weeks and adapted to that. I did a little reading and apparently you can suppress your natural melatonin production if you take it too long. So I only take 5mg on non consecutive nights that I happen to need it.
