Are my diet efforts impacting my low-t treatment?

So, my first BW that showed low T was just before Christmas. It also showed metabolic syndrome and some other stuff, so I started a pretty aggressive diet and exercise program to try and get my numbers back in line. About a month after I started the diet and exercise, I started compounded T cream with a doctor. A month after that, my next round of BW showed very little change in T concentration, though hard to tell because he used a different lab than my original BW. Opinion seem mixed on whether a large calorie deficit will effect testosterone . I'd hate to be slowing or hurting my T progress, but at the same time want to maintain weight loss. I'm getting at least 1g/LBW of lean protein (chicken breasts, fish) and fresh veggies.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Ray

Dieting naturally will lower your testosterone , especially if your calorie deficit is low. But as far as I know, on trt since it's synthetic, your testosterone should not drop because of dieting, hence why Arnold would use steroids while cutting to maintain his muscle, bad example I know but still. My bet is that you are just absorbing the test gel poorly. See if you can switch over to injections and I bet your test will be a hell of a lot higher.

Thanks! I'm working with the board sponsor to get set up on a more reasonable plan, which should be injection based.

If you're on TRT then you don't need to worry about diet impacting testosterone . You just need to get on the right dose and stick to that.

Having said that, if you had metabolic syndrome or pre-diabetes, then fixing that with good nutrition is absolutely paramount to your overall health.

Every cut I have ever done I end up loosing a good portion of my strength gains, which I assume was due to my already low test levels dropping even lower from the restriction in calories, causing fatigue and burn-out.

So with TRT this is no longer an issue and I should not be afraid to cut (only shoot for .5-1lb a week tops)? I am currently setting new personal records week after week doing the best I ever have in my life but have been afraid to cut... I would love to loose this gut and not my strength gains :-/

    Thanks,
    Dave

this is great info, I literally just logged in to search for this exact thing. I am severly overweight at this time, some due to inactivity from an accident, some due to a side effect of a nerve blocker I was prescribed, and (yes I'll own it) some due to me having nothing better to do than sit around and eat crap. I too have started a pretty aggressive diet regimine, and was wondering the same thing (will it affect my T while on Gel). Where I'm at I am walking a fine line, I need to maintain a certain amount of calories to promote bone growth and over all healing, while at the same time cutting out significant intake of calories. I've already cut out the simple sugars. Good luck on your weight loss bud.

Thanks for the luck . I'm in a very similar place to where you are, though I am mostly healed from my little health detour and off the narcotics and other fun medical substances for the last 8 months. I'm running about a 2000 calorie a day deficit, doing something close to a PSMF and daily exercise to keep my LBM.

Water retention on the T is driving me crazy, since I'll sit at the same weight for two weeks, then drop 10 pounds overnight. Makes it hard to correlate food & exercise with results.

Good luck to you as well.
