Some BW done at urologist - comments? Maybe a good TRT candidate?
I only went to the urologist to get screened for prostate cancer as I have some mild BPH (occasional incomplete voiding, going once in the middle of the night every night) and figured it would be good to at least have some data here before I go to a TRT type of clinic. He gave me the 2 finger salute and prostate feels OK, and I just called into their office to get my BW data (can't wait for it to get mailed) and my PSA was 1.1. Not that PSA is definitive by any means but I'm loving that result.
I told him I was there to just double-check my prostate before considering TRT, and he said he could have a couple of tests done for me while I'm doing the PSA. I don't have all the units/ranges yet, but it here is the incomplete data so far. This is just what I could get over the phone. Any comments or observations welcome.
41, workout 2-3x per week, 5'11" 180 lbs about 18-19%BF. Test was at 8am in the morning, fasted, with no ejaculation in previous 48 hours.
Prolactin "normal" (don't have amount or range yet)
Total Testosterone 442 (300-890 range)
Bioavailable Testosterone 234 (131-682 range)
SHBG 34 (11-80 range)
Free Testosterone 77 (47-244 range)
%Free Test 1.8 (1.6-2.9 range)
Leutinizing Hormone 2.7 (1.8-12 range)
Follicle Stimulating Hormone 3.5 (1.3-11.4 range)
As for my symptoms, they seem fairly subjective, but definitely feel less energy and confidence than in my 20s. I also have noticed that, I exercise and diet way better than in my 20's (and abuse my body less) but can't seem to get anywhere near the body I had back then. Hitting a wall in terms of the belly fat and strength. Libido and everything else is fine.
Also, had been doing 5000 IU of D3 daily for 3 weeks before this lab. Now taking 10,000 IU daily. Along with a multivitamin, 1 brazil nut (selenium), 1400mg DHA/EPA omega-3 daily.Last edited by wannabeme; 03-26-2013 at 09:09 AM.

No thyroid yet - planning on getting a complete workup done at the hormone doctor. If that is out of whack, I will definitely try tuning that up before anything else.
Interesting observation as my LH and FSH are also seemingly low - at least not "elevated" anyway. Seems like everything is low. I don't recall reading about hypothyroidism causing all of these to drop but will definitely do some more reading and definitely getting it tested.Last edited by wannabeme; 03-25-2013 at 06:45 PM.
