    My PCP is clueless

Just came home from a 2 month follow up which was suppose to consist of labs for androgel 2 pumps a day. I found a A4M dr. Since my Pcp found my test level at 50. I basically just wanted to see if my PCP would prescribe cyp,hcg , and an AI so my insurance will cover everything.

I printed off Dr. Crislers HCG and TRT protocols, even took in some of the stickies that Gdevine and Kel typed up. Welllll my doc refused to even look at them, said he doesn't know what hcg is and referred me to an endo. He gave me the big spill on not believing everything you read online and that dr. Is a quack, where is the statistics? I just let him know I would not need his assistance any longer. Luckily I wasn't charged for the visit. Just wanted to share this little experience...

At least he was smart enough to refer you elsewhere.

Short term pain in the arse now, but far better than a long-term disaster (and it would be).

my pcp said the same thing about the internet. Come to think of it a lot of doctors ive been to have said it..not just for testosterone either.

I thought you were doing well on androgel , why are you switching to cyp?

I've been on test cyp (200mg/ml a week)for 6 weeks, was on androgel for nearly 4 weeks then i found this forum and my knowledge for TRT grew tremendously and I went and landed a doc with A4M certification. My doc runs an anti aging type office and she doesn't take insurance.
The reason for this appointment with PCP was to see if he would prescribe the cyp, hcg , and AI so insurance would cover everything.

That's true, I mean he was straight to the point, and said I have no clue what HCG is suppose I do for low t. I was just keeping my fingers crossed that I could use the insurance I pay soooo much money for!! The health care system sure does blow!!! Your profile pic looks exactly like a girl I grew up with in KY. I'm going to have to PM you a pic of her.

I would like to get some feedback and different point of views from you guys and gals. Should I go ahead with the referral and set up an appointment with an endo? Basically getting a second opinion and some more guidance from a "specialist" rather than just taking advice from my anti aging doc? based on my BW, my test level was at 50 and I will be 30 This Friday. I just really want to know the root cause of my issue, plus fertility is HUGE for me, my wife and I are trying to have our first child(I've mentioned this before in other posts) insurance will cover my appt. so I guess I just answered my own question, it definitely can't hurt to reach out for another opinion and Its problem in the best interest for myself and my wife if I stay on top of the fertility issue.

TRT is for life, so it surely makes financial sense to explore the insurance route first. As you mentioned, we already pay a lot for insurance. You can always locate a pay-as-you-go practitioner if needed...
