Can you tell us about your medical background especially as it relates to the new hot term "Interventional Endocrinology" as Dr. Mark Gordon likes to put it LOL!

"Interventional Endocrinology" haha. Well i would like to think most educated endocrinologists deserve this term. Unfortunately it just isn't so. And who can blame them really. Advanced HRT and really any HRT at all as it pertains to todays "worlds fastest growing speciality" IS NOT TAUGHT IN ANY SPECIALITY OR EVEN MEDICAL SCHOOLS. You brought up Mark Gordon. Mark is actually a collegue of mine and I share his rogue ideals. Mark is a researcher by trade and done some great things in the HRT rhelm especially with HGH research. My background was sports medicine then shifted into nuclear medicine, treating Thyroid cancer and Hyperthyrodism with radical thyroid radioactive ablations (dosent get any more Interventional Endo than that...LOL) which really made me take a hard look in the mirror about other options the patient has and preventative medicine. A few years later after training and working with some of the worlds best BHRT guys I became Board Certified in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. Sort of just found my passion with this speciality after years of treating people with the band-aid "fix it when its broken" mentality instead of preventative. I think all of us here know preventative is the way to go. Healthy lifestyle and hormone optimization = healthy you.
I have found a common denominator with the worlds best HRT guys Mark Gordon included and I consider myself one. We all at some point in our career we all had to tell a patient. "I dont know" "but I'll get back to you with an answer" This would seem to many Practitioners as career suicide. But actually all great HRT fellows have this ideal and are sort of like mad scientists, we've been honest with our patients and had to go out looking for the information and continuing education resulting for some discovering the answers for longevity and total body optimization The Physician that says to the patient "you want Testosterone ...oh noooo." "you are gonna get prostate cancer and at 351 total testosterone your within the referance range...go home your fine" These guys are doing a serious disservice to themselves and the patient. Its their fear of their own uneducation why they say no. They arnt educated so better to just say no and protect yourself professionally since you dont know the outcomes. Sorry the soap box comes out from time to time

Thank you Mike for the response.
You're in good company here.
Most of us laymen who have educated ourselves and have reached a certain level of proficiency in understand HRT and correct Protocols in men have seen time and time again the injustices - and what amounts to malpractice in some cases - by Physician's prescribing complex hormonal replacement protocols in men without even understand a simple thing like the half life of Testosterone Cyp. Or to test for E2 or understanding the impact of HTPA suppression. Or just throwing Testosterone at a 28 year old presenting with low serum levels without performing any other clinical or diagnostic testing for pathology or other disease states...it's sickening to be totally honest.
It's our goal on this forum to help men find the right care and make sure we do our best at that and nothing more.
We've seen so many men hurt here over the years by uneducated egotistical hard headed Physicians it's not even funny.
You know what I am referring to.
You got the background, you got the credentials and you got the right attitude...happy to meet you Mike and welcome aboard my friend!

PS. Just after posting this I read this thread and responded, but this is EXACTLY what I mean Mike:
At 28, put on TRT by uro. -- Curious why my T is low? (blood work included)Last edited by steroid.com 1; 04-09-2013 at 11:46 PM.

[I]You mean you attempted to treat patients right ahead of treating your ego right? Haha, I am just joking but it does (unfortunately) take the semi-rare doctor to admit that they simply "don't know."
Curious, are you an MD or DO?
Glad to have you chime in and we all hope to hear more!

Thanks GD,
I read that thread swell. Poor guy needs a CT to look for pituitary tumor. His Prolactin seemed ok. Which in most cases a 28 year old labs a reflex should be set with anything under 200 to trigger a prolactin to R/O prolactin secreting tumor. But I agree someone this young with T levels this low--something else could be going on. I would also take into account the use of any SSRI's and opioids like Hydrocodone and even cholesterol suppressing statins. All these meds seriously lower your T levels. drastically. Thats right modern western medicine including all statin will lower your test 200-400 points. Crazy. Ive seen many young guys like this. LowT cause is rarely a tumor maybe 1 out of 1000 people. almost all due to pain pill use and abuse.
If all that checked out i would recommend HCG only therapy. stage him for a 5 weeks then retest.Last edited by LowT Mike; 04-16-2013 at 09:40 AM.

Statins SUCK and should be the absolute last line of defense if all else fails.
Doc's just throw drugs out like candy...it's up to us as informed patients to take care of our own health.
Buyer beware!
