    TRT and other medications.

There is a very good chance I will start TRT within the next month; I'm very excited. However, I am on two other medications; Lamictal and Klonopin. I take the Lamictal for treatment resistance depression and Klonopin for anxiety. Now, both the depression and anxiety have been an issue for years and very well may be due to a hormonal imbalance. But, I have no plans on coming off of these medications anytime soon as they have kept me stable. I have discussed this with my shrink and GP and they agree.

I have read stories of other men undergoing TRT while on various psychotropic medications but I'd like to hear about others.

TRT managed to get me off of Wellbutrin. If hormonal imbalance is the root of the problem, I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to come off these drugs in the future.

Wellbutrin is nasty! I was on it a few short months in my 20's for depression, I would live with the dress ion over what that did to me. I'm 5 weeks into TRT and haven't felt this good since my 20's. not all that helpful but I truly believe most of my mood and depression were hormone related after starting TRT.

The Klonopin, yes. The Lamictal, not so much. Lamictal carries the potential for a really nasty allergic reaction called Steven-Johnson Syndrome. This pops up with any increase in dosage so I could have serious issues if I came off of it, found I needed it and then got back on it. Unfortunately, the Lamictal is the only med that has worked and I've tried many, many meds. I'm very, very hesitant to screw with it.

I've tapered off of the Klonopin before and ended up back on it. I don't know if it was an actual return of an organic issue or just the withdrawal but I wasnt functional. And, I do mean "not functional"; I actually had a minor cardiac episode because of an arrhythmia caused by a panic attack. But, I will attempt another taper down the road because I hate benzodiazepines, TRT or not.

Read as much as you can on Dr Mariano's web site. I can't recommend this enough. He is a psychiatrist by trade, but is extensively trained in all things HRT. He is very, very generous in sharing his knowledge all for free. I've yet to come across any medical HRT authority like him.
