Blood donation question- Platelet donation?
Hello all,
My hemog. and hemoc. levels are too high so I began donating blood to get it at the proper levels. The first time I was able to do double red blood I guess platelet, worked great, and its doubly effective to my understanding vs. just regular donation. My 2nd time they wouldnt let me do the Double red and would only do a normal 1 unit donation as I have A+ and they didn't need it.
I received this email from the Am. Red Cross telling me I could be a Platelet donor too and was confused. Maybe its just a general email mass mailing, but isnt "Platelet" donation the same as the "double red blood" cell donation that I did the 1st time?
Heres the beginning of the email "Thank you for donating blood with the American Red Cross. Did you know you have the ability to help save more lives by becoming a platelet donor?.....
I would like to do the double red thing as it puts fluids back in your body, recover is easier, and it gets 2x the amount of what Im trying to fix out of me.
