Back in the gym, not getting a good nights sleep = drowsy at work

Most of you can refer back to my other posts to learn my history.. getting BW done today to see where I'm at officially.. but is there any reason why I can't seem to get a good night's sleep/not waking up feeling refreshed..

I wake up at 5:00am for the gym and do about 1hr 20 min workout full-body EOD and 45 min cardio EOD.. this after sporadic time in the gym before this week

Am I just tired? Is there anything I should ask my uro for? I'm worried about having high RBC.. thanks.

Include a full iron panel in your blood work. TIBC.

I usually sleep around 9:30 when I know I have a 5am workout the next morning.. when I'm doing cardio the next morning I'll sleep in a little (5:15am) and sleep around 10..

    diet is pretty solid:

pre-workout - protein bar or peanut butter on 12-grain bread
breakfast - protein shake w/ oats, fruit, and almond milk
snack - usually a protein bar
lunch - either a subway on flatbread w/ double meat or eggs w/ tuna and a few slices of 12-grain
snack - protein bar or I'll snack on an unsalted trail mix of mostly peanuts, almonds, pecans
dinner - white rice with a protein for the most part, salmon or chicken or beef..

vitamins: morning: zinc, fish oil (3,6,9), liquid multi-vitamin from max muscle, ALA (300mg), lexapro 5mg (not a vitamin but still fits here)
lunch: fish oil, cinnamon, B complex
dinner: fish oil, cinnamon, chewable fiber tabs (2), vitamin c, Formexx Black EOD
    bedtime: cialis (5mg), zyrtec

    anything not look right?

Ok I'm going to elevate the drowsiness to defcon 4.. it's really too much, I just can't keep my eyes open..

Could I just need maybe a full day of sleep?

Why do you take Zyrtec at night? That stuff makes me jittery, so I take it in the morning (but maybe 1X or 2X a year if that). My wife takes it more often because she has bad allergies, but we always take it in the morning.

Are you waking up in the middle of the night, or do you have trouble falling asleep?

    Any other medications?

What about caffeine intake and stress level?

I've never had an issue with feeling jittery on the Zyrtec.. maybe it's because I'm already used to it?

Not waking up in the middle of the night unless our kid wakes us up..

I don't drink any caffeine.. but my stress level is pretty high as I'm going through a few personal things in my life right now.. could it just be the stress keeping me up?

I really thought the TRT was going to help with that.. I know it's not a magic pill or shot in this case.. but I still felt as if I would be able to brush things off easier than what I was able to before it..

It sounds like stress unless there is a medical reason, but I'm not a doctor. Are you exercising every day? If so I would give yourself a couple days of break with good sleep and see how you feel.

Went to sleep at 8pm last night and skipped the gym today, woke up at 6:30.. Didn't fully sleep through the night but let's see how I do.

Thanks for all the input guys! Dreadnok, I may need to switch to evenings..

Still feeling drowsy this morning.. not as badly as yesterday, but still considerable..

Could it be that it's been a little slow at work? Or does anyone know if it might be a low test or estrogen level, high RBC? What (medically) might help to explain it?

I'm prone to anxiety so I'm trying not to over-think it and freak out about what might be wrong but it's annoying to try to stay awake even after a long night of sleep.. p:

I know what you mean... I personally can get obsessive and anxious, and for me it typically does mean an imbalance somewhere (E2, etc.).

Unfortunately, you will never know if it is hormones, high RBC, low iron, etc. without blood work. I would suggest scheduling a visit with your doctor.

In the interim, however, I would certainly cut yourself some slack. Exercise is still good for anxiety but high intensity exercise sometimes is not. Again, I'm not a doctor, but I would give myself another day off and then come back at it with some easy cardio and moderate weights until you get a chance to get lab work done.

If you catch yourself freaking out, just take a step back and realize there is a cause, it will get fixed, take a deep breath, and give yourself a break. You'll get there man... we all go through some turbulence at times. It unfortunately takes a little time and some patience.

Hey Zen, thanks so much for keeping up with my issue.. your last statement was really comforting.. yes it will get fixed whatever the issue is,

I'm waiting until midday tomorrow to find out the results of my BW but I didn't get a full panel done (afaik), it was just e2, test, hormones, but I do plan on going to see my GP this weekend if the problem persists to see where my iron levels are (and hopefully get some HCG )..

Thanks again for all your encouragement guys!

    Diet, Diet, Diet Period

Try a high protein, vegetable, fat, fruit "lifestyle" ditch the beans, white potatoes, dairy, processed food, alcohol (yes beer, wine and liquor) added sugar western diet and you will be bouncing off the walls after 7 days...

Everything else will fall into place... Trust...

Probably should've mentioned I have sleep apnea..

I'm looking into the possibility that sleep or lack of it could be causing my drowsiness.. sorry guys, should've seen this as a more obvious cause,

I've schedule a sleep study in July (seems like forever from now.. but I'll just keep trying to drop the weight until then and hopefully they'll just have to adjust my levels)

Had a GREAT day today after a killer workout this morning.. I slept at around 10 or 10:30 and woke up at 5AM,

Still feeling pretty great and the morning passed by quickly because it was very busy..

Perhaps this drowsiness is something mental? Oh well, thanks for all your replies fellas!

The first 6 links were about the western omelet at Denny's. It looked tasty.

The western diet is probably what your eating today filled with processed grains, 38 is telling you to try what is called a paleo or caveman diet which consist of no processed foods, mainly meats, fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds, he is right after a week or two you will feel great, although you might struggle to take a sh!t.

Dr's office called me today and said I would have to re-schedule my appointment because my results still weren't ready.. I'm really surprised it's taken them this long to get my results, but I've decided to give lowtest.com a try, so I'll be making plans to travel out to Houston soon
