    New to testosterone replacement

    New to testosterone replacement
I'm 36 yo male. 2 weeks ago I got my test levels checked at my local VA hospital, I'm a VET, and my total test was 139 (250-1100 range) and free test was 32 (35-? Range) I hurt my back in the Marines a few years back and I'm taking a total of 150mg of oxycodone a day. Today I talked to my doc, and he says these levels are a bit low for my age, but the pain pills may have something to do with it. He ordered another round of hormone tests to be done, and if low testosterone is confirmed, he will send me to get an MRI for my head ( pituitary glands) before placing me on HRT. My question is, how low are my levels really for my age? What is LH test? Does pain pills commonly lower testosterone , and is it reversible after stopping pills? I've heard so many good things about HRT and I'm really hoping I qualify. Thanks in advance!

There was a 1999 study that examined 4,393 men between the ages of 32 and 44 and found that their average testosterone level (at 8 a.m.) was 679 ng/dl. This is average, so that is the middle. For a 36 y/o you want to be 600+ for optimal health. That same study showed that at those at 800 were 72% less likely to have a heart attack, than those with testosterone a little less than 400.

How low are your levels? Very low imho. Not sure about the medication could be knocking you down only way to know is to stop taking it for a while. Definitely get a full hormone panel done and then rule out a pit tumor by mri.
