    Blood work results. Opinions please

    Hi!

I just got the “Male Anti-Aging Deluxe w/Free (Direct) Testosterone ” blood test from Private MD Labs. I am only posting the results of the tests that were out of the reference range because I am having a hard time copying anything from the pdf they sent me.

One year ago I was put on Androgel 50mg once a day. My primary symptoms were fatigue and a general frequent malaise sick feeling. The doctor had run various blood workups, but nothing was out of the ordinary. My total testosterone level at that time was 348 and out of desperation I wanted to try hrt. After four months of the gel I switched to compounded cream, at the same dosage, to save on cost. I have been on hrt for a total of one year now. I am 50 years old.

I had read on this forum that some people’s test level can actually drop with the use of gel/cream and that appears to be what has happened to me. Although my test level has gone down I feel about the same as one year ago. I had talked to my doctor, when he proscribed the gel, about trying the shots, but he did not seem comfortable with that option. I am not sure what his plan will be once he sees my test level has actually gone down since starting the gel/cream. I suppose he may want to up the topical dosage. Would this be worth trying or do I have to push for shots?

Your E2 is low. Are you taking any AI (estrogen inhibitor)? My suggestion is simply get a better physician. You're obviously not absorbing the topical very well, and you might be seeing an increase with DHT as well. We need additional labs (thyroid, DHEA, D3, prolactin, Iron & Ferritin, adrenal related, the list goes on ... See Kel's sticky about finding a HRT doctor). We also need your stats, any medical conditions, any background information pertaining to your health.

What Vette said ^^^. Keep in mind some people just don't respond well to gels / creams. Injections may be in your future.

If it helps 200 mg test cream daily got me to 688 total and free 10. My e2 was 11. And that was 4 times your amount. 75 mg test cyp pinned 2 times a week 1185 total and 26.6 free. e2 went from 11 to 45 in 8 weeks.

I am not taking a inhibitor.

Of the other tests I only have this from thyroid right now-

    TSH 2.0 ref .45-4.5
    Thyroxine (t4) 8.3 ref 4.5-12
    T3 uptake 35 ref 24-39
    free Thyroxine 2.9 ref 1.2-4.9

No medical conditions other than the fatigue issue and some depression. I am 5'11 240 and lift semi-serious 3-4 days a week and aerobic stuff 2 days.

    Thanks!

Did you start with a lower dose of the cream? If so, what was the result?

    Thanks!

Started at 65 mg daily cream. It raised from 300 to 400. I dont think I absorb well. For good absorbers you figure roughly 10% absorption rate. That would of put at 140 mg test week if injected. Well 150 mg test cyp a week got me to 1185 and my 200 mg a day cream(or 140 mg a week factoring in normal absorption) got me to 688
