    Any reason to donate plateletes?

I am going to start donating blood and they asked if I would donate platelets as well. I did not know if that is helpful for me or not or just to them.

not unless you have more than enough. whole blood is the easiest way to lower RBC, Hemoglobin and Hematocrit. another way is to do double reds.

I was talked into it once, it took a bit longer and the needle was huge.

I was told at the donor center where I regularly go is that it takes two hours, and they use the same gauge needle they ordinarily do, a 16ga

maybe as a gesture of goodwill.

there shouldn't be any need to donate platelets on TRT. in fact, I do not believe it's necessary to donate blood either if you can take less T and avoid the sides; but really, that is my personal opinion and surely debatable.

Of course if levels stay in the normal range, no need to donate.

The problem is with platelets and double reds is you have to wait 4 months to donate again. With whole blood, you can go every two months.
