TRT doctor recommendation for Chicago-land or Orland Park/south suburbs
Well after Endo #4 told me 330-360 of total test or that my free test of 62.4 out of 35-155 is perfectly fine for a 36 yr old, I am off to see if anyone on the boards can PM me a recommendation as my search has been fruitless and the trt directories bring up a standard Dr in my area.
PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hi, I've been researching and researching and read COUNTLESS threads on Low Testosterone . I'm 40 and 5'10" 173lbs. I have a history of a pituitary tumor from about 20 years ago. Within the last 5 years my GP told me he wasn't going to refer me to an Endo to have another MRI done and that he was going to treat it in his office at GP level. He stated that the adenoma was small enough that it wasn't causing me any symptoms and that he was going to consider it "case closed" and that I wasn't getting the bromocriptine anymore. Fast forward to present day and I have a plethora of issues. Blurred vision, ED, no libido, foggy brain, lethargic, no results in gym even though I'm eating 3000 clean calories per day and working out 4 days per week. It's hell. I have no ambition. I used to. I used to have drive, I used to have ambition and energy. It's gone. I'm 192 ng/dl. My LH was tested at a 1.6.
I went to a urologist and he said he wanted to put me on Androgel . I asked him for injections. He said he prefers Androgel and refused shots. I asked about baldness and whether he'd prescribe HCG and something to prevent it from converting to DHT. He said he wasn't going to go crazy on it so I wouldn't have baldness. He said, "I treat a lot of patients and none of them went bald on it. I also asked if we were going to try to get my Test to optimal levels. I told him I know a 40 year old should be at about 668ng/dl and he replied that he would be happy to see me at 300-400 and that it's not about the number, but how I feel. So he wants to give me a low dose, no e blocker, won't let me inject, and would be happy that I'm at the T levels of a 65 year old man.
I'm living in the vicinity of the poster above. I found this thread this morning and I know that maybe I should broaden my horizons and talk to other Dr.'s maybe? One who is more progressive? I also want to know if they take insurance as well. I didn't want to call the above number for you unsolicited. Is there a way you could message me back or maybe I could call you about this Dr. who you know in the Chicagoland area who is so good? Thank you in advance. Just want to get back to some sense of normalcy.

Is this thread dead? I am wondering what I should do at this point. My endo wants to just prescribe androgel with nothing else. I was told I just need to learn to live with the other side effects. I really need to find a good doctor in the Chicagoland area. I'm so frustrated.

I have an outstanding TRT doc 4 miles south of Dowtown Chicago. He gets it and knows the reference range is not optimal. You want to be "optimal" not normal. Give me a call. 281-547-0013.

Hi! I think I talked to a colleague of yours yesterday. I spoke with a Robert who was quite helpful and I got myself set up with lowtestosterone.com and have my bloodwork scheduled already for Monday morning!
I am super happy to finally get myself towards feeling normal!
