Cool is there any reason to believe trt is dangerous, and prostate cancr questions

so ive been doing trt research for a good 5 years now, and ive always been kind of weary about starting it, and ill admit i still sort of think of it as quack medicine(im just being honest, i know it's a legitimate problem, but the thought is still there)

anyway, ive been begging my 56 yr old dad to go on trt, and i sometimes ask myself if im doing the right thing? my dad has a total t of 319, a free t that is below range by a lot, never had e2 checked, has high lh and fsh, so probably primary, and has a LOW psa..around .3.

I tell him trt will help him lose his gut and gain muscle, will cure his diabetes or help it, will make him more focused at work, will prob not effect his cholesterol too much, will be nothing but good, and will make him feel like he's 20 again, and hopefully when he's 100 feel like he's 56 again lol.

I just dont know if im right about all of this stuff. Im still confused on what causes prostate cancer..ive heard testosterone doesnt cause it, estrogen causes it...but who knows?

My dad also doesnt want to do injections, although he sees how easy it is for me, and is probably more open to it. For him we'd probably do the pellets.

a lot of times i feel like trt is made just for muscle gain. im not bashing lowt.com but they treat anyone under 600...does anyone really feel better going from 599 to 700?

all i know is that after lifting weights for a decade with low t, and then lifting for 6 weeks on hcg , i want to keep my testosterone up....low t weightlifting is bullshit. The other day, some guy at the car dealership made a joke about how big i was. it felt amazing. I've been hearing a lott of compliments.

my dad has opened up to the idea of trt lately, but the problem is he realizes that no doctors know the side effects. You either have drs like e barry gordon who get 1 million dollars per shot pushing it down your throats, or doctors like most who shun trt. Even worse are the doctors who do trt but do it wrongly. It is annoying when the drs contradict me, and im a nice guy, so instead of calling them out, i apologize for being wrong ha. I'm such a low t bitch

Studies has shown more estrogen is present in the prostate than testosterone , however, if anyone has preexisting cancer TRT will make it progress faster.

Looks like you've done lots of reading, good for you. And good for you trying to help your dad, it's the best thing you can do for him, especially at these levels, things will only get worse for him if he doesn't correct the problem.

For cholesterol simply take 5mg cialis twice a day. Great for blood pressure too! Stay away from pellets, if IM is too much for him then do SQ twice a week, no pain no hassle.

A common misconception among physicians is that testosterone administration adversely affects the normal prostate. This idea is not supported by the medical literature. A 2002 study indicates that testosterone is actually beneficial for the prostate gland in the vast majority of cases. In this study, researchers looked at multiple parameters, including prostate volume, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, and lower urinary tract symptoms in a group of men with low or low-normal testosterone levels . Of the 207 men studied, 187 responded favorably to testosterone treatment. These positive responders all showed improvement in almost every parameter measured: their prostate glands all decreased in size, PSA was lower, and urinary symptoms such as frequency, urgency, dribbling, and getting up at night to urinate all improved.

In a separate recent study that looked at a similar group of men, the authors observed, “No treatment-related change was observed in prostate histology, tissue biomarkers, gene expression, or
cancer incidence or severity. Treatment-related changes in prostate volume, serum PSA, voiding symptoms, and urinary flow were minor.”

On the question of whether testosterone therapy causes prostate cancer, the answer clearly appears to be “NO”. In a landmark review article published in 2004 in the New England Journal of Medicine, the authors report “there appears to be no compelling evidence at present to suggest that men with higher testosterone levels are at greater risk of prostate cancer or that treating men who have hypogonadism [low testosterone ] with exogenous androgens increases this risk.” A long- term study revealed that there is a less than 1% incidence of prostate cancer occurrence among patients receiving testosterone treatment. This supports again that treatment is beneficial to the prostate when you compare these findings to the national average that 1 in 7 men get prostate cancer. However, since testosterone stimulates cell growth, it is possible that it can accelerate the growth of an existing prostate cancer. Cancer-screening tests such as a PSA test are necessary before replacement therapy. Testosterone treatment is contraindicated in men with known prostate cancer and breast cancer.
