    Best High BP Meds...

Looks like trt has increased my bp. It has been slowly creeping up even with the much better diet, loss of fat and exercise. Currently running 135-140 over 85-90. Used to be 117/75 before trt even though out of shape and overweight. I currently take 2.5mgs cialis, fish oil and just started CoQ10. I am running Austinite's fat burn stack and that has synephrine which cause bp to rise but it was on the rise prior to that so it is not the root cause. Also take nexium and a low dose aspirin.

So those of you who are also in this boat, what bp meds do you take? Is there any that can actually provide additional benefits besides the obvious lowering of bp? Which one has the least amount of bad sides? Thanks.

When's the last time you checked your hematocrit levels or donated blood, that will help lower your BP, I would stay away from the poison if you can. But if you start to get to 150/90 + you may have no choice, I take lisinopril, believe me they can kill your sex drive and don't help with erectile function at all. Have tried many ace inhibitors and a few ARB's. Stay away if at all possible. Never had low t until I started taking this poison.

    LOL Poison is correct!

Brazensole, I am in the same boat as you are, my BP was low like yours but now two years post TRT I am at 145-150/75-80, Cialis seems to lower it and now I am at 135-145/70-75 depending on my activates. have you tried higher Cialis doses like 5 mgs twice a day?

Not thrilled with taking them but... I gave blood last Wednesday. Doc appointment soon along with labs to find out where everything sits.

That was going to be the first thing I talked to the doc about but not sure how he will respond. From what I could find cialis, while it will lower bp, is not very powerful. I'd certainly like to try say, 10 mgs/day, before anything else. Hopefully he will be receptive.

Lisinopril seems pretty harmless. But as stated above i started taking low dose Cialis and was able to drop my low dose Lisinopril.

Interesting. I took toprol daily pre trt. No more bp meds now. Well, once in a while it goes a bit high. Good luck.

I take enalipril daily and have been on it way before trt. The interesting thing is I did a blast a few months back and my BP actually dropped below normal during that time period.

Atacand is a good choice, no sides at all.

Linsopril here, no sides that i've noticed. Started Melonotan II to see if it actually works (it sure as hell does!) and that has raised it a bit but nothing too scary.

Lisinopril for BP (unless you get the dry cough, in which case you should switch to losartan).
    Bisoprolol for BP and tachycardia.
My BP and HR rise a lot on cycle, so I use bisoprolol to keep my HR down, and lisinopril for the BP without having to use a bunch of bisoprolol.

Anyone still using propranolol? I rarely need it but when I do 10mg works so well for me that I bust up a 40mg tab. I got it a while back for stage fright but glad I have on hand now for BP.

Generally, (for me) I’ve learned that it's best to avoid Beta Blockers (e.g. Propranolol) as these can sometimes cause ED issues. I personally take Atacand for both lowering blood pressure & for prevention of Migraine Headaches. I've also thrown in 5 mgs of Cialis Daily which also helps with the BP (just a little). Our TRT can cause thickening of the blood where use of BP meds becomes mandatory (like it or not). I would urge people not to take a bro-science approach to the use of BP meds. Reality is these drugs can save your life & should be openly discussed with your Doc.

Another concern for us that work-out regularly is that some BP Meds can severely lower your resting heart rate (BPMs). BP Meds like Propranolol (Beta Blockers) are known for doing this, but this effect is actually desired for those with established heart abnormalities.

Bystolic is another good BP med, but I've found that it too lowers my resting heart rate. When I tried Bystolic, it worked well, but I couldn’t get my heart rate above 95 BPMs while doing cardio. However, everyone reacts differently to BP meds. For example, my Fiancé uses Bystolic yet she has no issues with having a lowered heart rate.

Truth is that Diet & Exercise are not always enough to lower Blood Pressure in some people. These can be very important meds to have in your corner. The need for them should not be ignored due to reading a few unfavorable posts on an internet forum....

Well said!!! But it's still worth noting that's it's in your best interest to stay off them if at all possible. I don't believe the op's BP is high enough yet to warrant these drugs. No bro science needed. Of course if it continues to rise then it's time to look into therapy.

My main concern, since my bp is not very high (but it is creeping upwards, albeit slowly), is what will it do when I run my first cycle next year? I plan to donate blood on a regular basis from now on at least while not on a cycle (does anyone know if cycling will restrict blood donation? For now I only plan to use test. cyp.).

I did donate blood last week and it seems to have brought the bp down some though not as much as I thought it might. Last night it was 136/88 so nothing to get terribly excited about. Before the donation is was running ~142/92 'ish.

I'm on valsartan and it does wreack havoc on sex function. Also when I was on test, my bp went up to about 155-160/90-100. It went down a bit after a blood dump but my med had to be adjusted. I'm on HCG now and bp went back down to where it used to be before. I came off meds last year when I dropped my weight but came back up after a lay off and gained weight back.

Same here the test has raised my blood pressure even on a high dose of lisinopril, although it does spike up for a while then come down seemingly for no reason.
