Question: If you have insurance, what are your deductibles? Thanks for the input!
Gentlemen,
During the last two days of me getting feedback from our members on an idea that I had, I was left with an unanswered question:
I have been asking members about what they pay for medication and health services and I have been getting spectacular answers such as $5/$15/$35 co-pays and in the past I have heard that people get medical treatment for $20 office visits. When I hear that, I am VERY impressed.... However, I then think to myself, "I have great insurance and my deductibles are $2500 a year for medical treatment and my medication deductible is around $600 a year." With that being said, am I crazy or are people saying that they do not have medical deductibles along with their co-pays? I am never sick, so even with my $10 medical co-pays and my $20 office co-pay, I still pay retail price each year because I NEVER meet my deductible. (The insurance company ALWAYS sends me a bill to cover the costs until I have met my deductible)
My question is: Those of you who have insurance, do YOU have a medical and medication deductible and if so, what is it? Again, I am asking because I am doing research and when I hear "I have a $7 co-pay", are people sensationalizing what they pay to wow us with an extremely LOW $ amount for treatment and/or medication or do you guys seriously NOT have deductibles. When people say that "I have a $4 co-pay", are they including the fact that they must meet a certain $ amount BEFORE that benefit kicks in?
Thanks for the input guys!!

I pay out of pocket since through a TRT clinic (fill all scripts as Costco), but with Kaiser I just had my $20 office co-pay, no yearly deductibles that had to be met.

I do not have medical deductible..
But my insurance for medical is 80/20..meaning they will pay 80% and me 20% But I'm double covered; wife and I work at the same place so I don't pay anything!!
So example: I see GP he bills 100 bucks insurance re rates that at 80 then they pay 64 and me 16.. But major medical 100% covered
And prescriptions are 5 bucks generics and 20% total cost of name brand

Through my old insurance ($650 a month) I had a $2000 deductible. Which was part of the reason I kept trying so hard to get my low t covered by insurance. Thanks to gays and equal right I got put on my fiancee's insurance as a domestic partner and have no deductible.
I finally found a Dr (who sucks) in my area. I have a $25 co pay at office for every visit that will cease after a couple of months and trust is built where I can do injections myself. I am not sure what test costs. I was told $42 a bottle but I am not sure how big that is.

I have insurance but they don't cover test. No deducible either.
Normally my office visits are $20 copay and meds are $4 generics to $20 brand name.
My test, Hcg and anastrozole cost me $310 for however Long 10 ml lasts. Normally a minimum of 10 weeks.

As of right now, until the ACA kicks in, I have a $2,000ea/$3,000 total deductible for standard treatments. I pay $4/mth for HCG and $8/mth for Test E. Cialis 20mg is the one that sucks at $50/4 pills mth. Full price per pill up to 8 pills after that. I pay no deductible because we have a medicine plan with insurance.
When I was on Axiron/Testim, it was $50/mth (actually over $800 for the true cost). Kind of why I switched to shots because I didn't know if I was going to lose my insurance or not.
Office visits for my urologist is $75 per. Blood work is difference of whatever the insurance company doesn't pay.Last edited by roxer; 09-30-2013 at 11:30 AM.

No deductible. Office visits are 20 co-pay. Specialists are 40 co-pay. Prescription depends on the drug but they always try to get you on a generic.
My TRT is running me 75 a month. The pharmacy said the initial price was over 400 bucks. (Androgel )

Thanks for the input guys! Those of you out there who do NOT have a deductible blow my mind!! Good for you all, but I do NOT understand why insurance would offer plans like that because there is no way they could possibly sustain that.... I assume that your companies that you work for pay several thousand a year for you to have that type of insurance. CRAZY! Thanks for the input guys... keep it coming!

I think its going to happen more and more, but only time will tell. I find it to be completely unbelievable that our government is putting this new health care bill in action when it simply isnt ready. Hell, today when the websites opened up for people to come sign up, even the websites were not working properly. Bah!
