Flippin insurance won't cover my AI :(

Started TRT and after 8 weeks my estrodial level was through the roof on 100mg test per week. 210 range 10-44!

I finally get my doc to realize the benefit of an AI after she consults with a cpl endo's (ones solution was drop the test dose lower) DUMB ASS!

She just text me and said that the AI would not be covered by insurance because it's considered a breast cancer drug, yet the TRT is fully covered.

Honestly I have not priced the scrip yet. She is likely going to write it but the simple fact it's not covered pisses me off. I pay good $ for good (bahahahah) insurance!

Sometimes Costco price is cheaper than your insurance copay. It pays to shop around, Walmart/costco to name a few.

Have your doctor write a "Letter of Medical Necessity" to your carrier and plan administrator. Often times it helps.

Thanks Kel. She finally scripted after I spoke to her a bit more aggressively and she consulted with an endo lol. I'll start protocol, test in 2 weeks and show her the necessity. I'm going to get her trained yet lol

I can vouch for that.even bp med was cheaper by $5 than the insurance. Test is definitely cheaper there.
Kel, you are right on the money, unfortunately.

Yes the BP's are dirt cheap @ Costco. For ex. My copay for BP drug is $10.00 per month. @ Costco no insurance, 3 month supply less than $10.00. Crazy what a scam insurance can be if your not informed.

Bizarre. My insurance covers almost nothing of the TRT meds (test cyp and HCG ) and ALL of the AI costs (regardless of type). So much variation in insurance coverage….and little common sense.

What bass said. Cost me $13 for a year's worth of anastrozole from Costco mail order pharmacy.
