    Low T - 23

Gonna be getting the rest of my T blood work taken soon, but so far:

    Total Test: 260
    Range: [300-1000]

I went to a urologist and he said I should try the natural way of exercise first before TRT. Now I'm not that out of shape, but I'm not in great shape either. I have a belly and around 23% BF, but I'm not sure if its the Low T or not as I can't seem to shed it (and I have lost most of my muscle)

Realistically can I can't my T levels back to normal through exercise?

Also I have some MPB, and I really really don't want it to get worse. I read that TRT would increase DHT and therefore increase MPB rates. But then this urologist said the opposite that TRT might actually help my hair. Any idea on this?

Without BW results it next to impossible to give advice. Get your BW results complete with ranges & post it. The resident experts can give you solid advice at that point.

Good to know your age also. Did you title this thread as such because you are you actually 23?

I agree that it's best to post up your lab results so the resident experts can give you a hand.

I'm not sure what your doctor means by saying you can raise your testosterone level through exercise. IMO, this is an unreasonable expectation, if your level is this low.

Regarding MPB: Try minoxidil. It works whether you are on TRT or not.

    Just turned 23 in September.

I'm getting another total, free, prolactin, FSH and LH on monday. Anything else?

    Does minoxidil (rogaine) actually work?

    FSH: 3.8 [1.0-8.0]
    Luteinizing Hormone: 3.7 [1.0-6.7]
    Prolactin: 8.4 [2.1-17.7]
    Total T: 290 [300-1000]
    Free T: 95 [47-244]

So my T has gone up a little since last time (was 264 a month ago, now 290). Everything else appears normal? Isn't it odd that if my total was low that my free is normalish?

not enough BW to make any assessment, your LH and FSH are low which suggests pituitary issues. have you done MRI to rule in/out pituitary tumors?

What other blood tests do I need?

Aren't they in normal range though? And nope not yet. Plus wouldn't the prolactin be off if there is a tumor? BTW my TSH is 2.01

yes normal doesn't mean optimal, your LH is okay but can be higher same for FSH. it could be many thing no one really knows until more BW is done. you are doing thyroid so lets see how that comes back. thyroid can cause these issues as well. a complete BW list can be found in the Sticky at the top of this section called "Finding HRT Physician"

okay you're referring to your post #7. its is low normal, and its worthless if you don't have enough in the reservoir (total test).

That's what I thought too. Gonna see another one soon. She did tell me that I need to take vitamin d as it was at 30. Said it may help with being tired.

So I got some of my new blood work back today (still waiting for free levels)

And my total has increased to 341

    So:

    October 8th
    264

    November 18th
    290

    December 10th
    341

Whats going on? I haven't done anything different besides take Vitamin D (My level on October 8th was 30 - Today its 42). And maybe been a little more lax on my doses of Imuran (for crohns, but I can't find a connection between it and low T).

I haven't worked out really at all and I'm under a lot more stress if anything (less sleep etc...)

Could Vitamin D be doing this?

    I believe....
Vitamin D can increase testosterone production thus boosting total testosterone .
Vitamin D can lower SHBG thus boosting free testosterone.

I take 10,000iu of Vitamin D a day and it has raised my vitamin D from 24 to 67.
