    Strange iron results.

    Should i be worried?

Have some fatigue, joint pain, dry mouth/throat

    Iron Bind.Cap.(TIBC) 341 250-450 ug/dL SO
    UIBC 109 LOW 150-375 ug/dL SO
    Iron, Serum 232 HIGH 40-155 ug/dL SO
    Iron Saturation 68 HIGH 15-55 %

    Ferritin, Serum 64 30-400 ng/mL

How can I have low ferritin but high levels of Iron.

It might be nothing - the body moves iron around a lot due to things like infections (even subclinical ones), on the other hand, do you know if anyone in the family carries hemachromatosis genes which you might have inherited? There is some form of hemachromatosis that can result in something called iron avidity, which causes too little stored iron. I don't know a lot about it, I read about it quite some while ago, but it gives you some place to start googling if you like.

I'd speak to the doc who drew the bloods - if you have been with him/her for awhile, they can tell you if you have had some pattern of this developing. If you do, ask the doc if they can speak to a haematologist about your results. If there is no pattern, this may be just an aberration, and you might want to test again next time your blood is drawn to check.
