CBC Results Help - Iron defficiency?
Need help trying to figure this out. I'm currently on cycle (600 mg Test E, 600 mg EQ) and recently had labs drawn. There has been a very slight downward trend over time with my MCH/MCV/RDW.
On 9/25 my results were (endo):
WBC = 6.2 ( reference range 3.8 - 10.5)
RBC = 5.6 ( reference range 4.1 - 5.6)
HGB = 13.8 ( reference range 12.7 - 16.7)
HCT = 43.1 ( reference range 38.1 - 50.1)
MCV = 77 (reference range 82 - 98)
MCH = 24.6 ( reference range 25-35)
MCHC = 32.0 ( reference range 33-36)
RDW = 15.8 ( reference range 11.5 - 14.5)
On 12/21 my results are (lab corp):
WBC = 6.7 ( reference range 3.4 - 10.8)
RBC = 6.45 ( reference range 4.14 - 5.8)
HGB = 14.6 ( reference range 12.6 - 17.7)
HCT = 44.6 ( reference range 37.5 - 51)
MCV = 69 (reference range 79 - 97)
MCH = 22.6 ( reference range 22.6 - 33.0)
MCHC = 32.7( reference range 31.5 - 35.7)
RDW = 16.1 ( reference range 12.3 - 15.4)
The results are not very different, but labs months before were higher than the 9/25 so things have been declining. I have donated blood twice since the 9/25 labs (8 weeks apart) in prep for the EQ run. Is it likely I need to supplement with iron and if so, any recommendation on dose?

Well the trend has been over the past year. Nothing drastic but I've only donated those two times. I suppose something else could be wrong but can't help wonder if I'm just not getting enough iron in my diet and over time I'm losing my stored amounts.

I should also note that on 9/25 I had iron tests done and they seem to be normal. So is it possible that those would be normal yet my MCV/MCH/RDW are off. Not sure if I should add in a small dose of iron supplement and retest in a few weeks to see what happens.
Also, I have been using 50mg zinc daily which I started AFTER the 9/25 test. I read this can block the absorption of iron.
Iron 88 ( reference range 45-182)
UIBC = 338 ( reference range 110-370)
Total IBC = 426 ( ( reference range 228-428)
%SAT = 21 ( ( reference range 15 - 50%)
Hemolysis = Normal)

You're not deficient in iron, and you actually have too many RBCs (but they are a bit smaller than normal). Could be linked to a disease or nutrient deficiency.

Something unrelated to steroid ? I'll be honest I'm freaking out right now I had an mri during the summer that showed bone marrow edema or darkening. Ortho said it happens sometimes and nothing to worry about. The MRI suggested a full cbc but I ignored it. Fuk

Here is what the MRI said
"Dark T1 and T2 bone marrow signal which is often seen in benign processes such as osteoporosis, smoking or obesity (FYI, I'm not obese nor do I smoke), however, correlation the CBC might be of further value to be certain a myeloproliferative process is not present.

Yeah...you may have a bone/blood disease. I can't see this being connected to AAS. Go see a specialist.

could be a beta-thalassemia trait.

Thanks. I'm calling my primary today. There is a hemotologist in the same practice so I may try to see him first to bypass my primary. I'm stressing about this. I hope it's nothing serious.
