doctor wants me off TRT
Long story short...
Been on Axiron for a year and a half. (starting test levels around 250)
Been on thyroid meds for a year and a half. (Hashimoto's)
Recently moved form NY to Georgia. Started seeing a new endo in Georgia.
After looking over all my info he decided that I have a classic case of obesity induced hypogonadism. He wants me to get my BMI into a healthy range and then go off TRT and get tested six months later. He said that if I keep putting steroids into my body that I could die of a stroke or a heart attack.
FYI:
I am 5' 7.5"".
I weighed 198 when I went on TRT.
I am 208 now.
The BMI index chart has the healthy weight for someone my height as 122.5 to 157.5lbs.
Guess he thinks I should lose over 60lbs.
He also switched me to injections because I had one bloodtest that showed my testosterone at 923. Supraphysiological levels! All my test since starting are 842, 719, 679, 586, 923, 666, 603, 665, 517.
He believes the injections will keep my levels more stable.
Already started looking for a new endo.
I sure wish LowT.com was open in Atlanta.

I've said this several times but it's worth repeating...most endos make the worst TRT doctors. I know that sounds strange being that they're hormone doctors but while they may be good with other hormones they're usually useless when it comes to testosterone . The most ignorant and backward statements and claims about testosterone I've ever heard have almost all come from endocrinologist.
923 isn't considered supraphysiological by any physician that understands testosterone, that alone is a red flag regarding your current physician.
Heart attacks and strokes are not caused by the simple use of testosterone, they're caused by not monitoring your testosterone therapy , letting blood become thick, not managing estradiol, etc.
BMI, body fat is more important than BMI. Any many that is 5'8" is only going to weigh 130lbs if he has little to know muscle tissue on him. Honestly, in my opinion the BMI scale is and has for a long time been a joke.
We have a good doctor in Nashville TN if you're interested. About 3hrs from Atlanta. You'd only have to go face-to-face once per year. All blood work could be done locally in Atlanta .

BMI is a joke. It's outdated and and all of the fit community is considered obese by that standard.

A few years back I was in the Hospital for DVTs & Pulmonary Emboli due to immobility after an ankle surgery. One day this lady walks into my room, looks at me, looks at her clipboard, looks at me, squeezes my bicep and says; "Hey, you're not morbidly obese." I replied; "Gee, thanks lady!"
Turns out she was a Nutritionist in the Hospital. Apparently @ 6 foot & 275 lbs my computer file alerted her office that I was a morbidly obese patient who needed some Nutritional Counseling.
We laughed, she scribbled some notes & then walked out...

I'm 6'6" 231 lbs. the BMI chart says I'm overweight. Wants me to be 160 to 215. Lmfao. If I was 216 I'd be skinny. If I was160 I'd be a stickman

LMFAO! That's too much. It's funny but I got into long distance running years back. I got thin, BMI was happy but my body composition was such that I had little muscle compared to body fat, wasn't able to get off BP meds. Got back into weight training, diet, recomped my body AND got off BP meds at a higher weight. And was still obese by BMI. Lol
