    Strange iron levels

    In order to get some blood drained I had to get a few tests to see if I inherited my dad's hemochromotosis before I see the hematologist. I thought I'd have high iron even if I was a carrier, my TIBC seems to indicate I have anemia?? Anyone on trt have strange results like this?

    Ferritin 22-336 27
    Iron Lvl 35-160 116
    TIBC 220-400 428
    % sat 13-45 27
    Transferrin 180-329 306

    CRP 0.0-0.5 0.3

    WHat about the standard blood values? (H&H, MCV, etc?)
    Edit: the term I was looking for is CBC panel.

    Here is the highlights, the lows and highs.

    Hgb 11-18g/dl-----> 18.9
    hct 35-60-----> 55.3
    Mcv 80-99.9----> 92.5
    Rdw 11.6-13.7----> 14.8
    mch 27-31----> 31.6
    mpv 7.8-11----> 6.5

    I was low on b-12 so it may be causing a few oddities, since then have got myself to the upper part of the b-12 range.

    Your hematocrit is at 55%??
    You need to get that down ASAP by donating blood. Keep it between 40 and 50%.
    IDK what lab gave you those reference ranges, but 60% is insane.

    Your other labs are probably showing "anemia" because your high RBC levels are binding up all your iron.

    I know! Blood bank turned me away twice and the regular doctor wouldn't do it, hoping they drain me tomorrow at the appt. to get me in range to start donating.

    Wow guy was a prick, iron is fine, hemoglobin only slightly high, we get people in here with lvls in the 20s. People in high elevations have lvls in the 20s, yours is high because of trt, lower your dosage. I'll remove a unit and you don't need a follow up. And people wonder why self medication occurs. And gee the pressure in my neck went away halfway through the process and I feel better. Definitely will be going to give blood and keep a eye on it.
