    Low E2 and high estrone.

So, I've been self-medicating for a while, test is up to 613 (no exogenous test, just thyroid meds and exercise)
My E2 was top of the range at 39 pg/ml, I started taking arimidex and got it to >11, since too low E2 can wreck your joints and lipids, I cut back on the arimidex and got E2 to 19 pg/ml (range up to 39,8 pg/ml)

I went to an endo to get some feedback, and he told me to test for estrone, I did, and the result came twice top of the range, even while on an aromatase inhibitor!

Now I'm in doubt. I know estrone is a relatively weak estrogen, but it still worries me. Can it be related to bodyfat somehow? Estrone is 130,3 pg/ml, range for men is up to 60,0 pg/ml. I'm 24.

What I recently learned on another thread is that Aromasin /Exemestane does on number on estrone. You might want to look into this and consider this med instead of arimidex .

Thanks. I'll try letro first due to its lower cost (I read it packs more punch than Arimidex ). If that doesn't work, time for Aromasin ,

Consider getting an E2 Sensitive Assay so you actually know where you are.

    What Kel said here.

From what I know Letro is big guns. Go slow.

We don't have the sensitive assay here in Brazil. I guess I'll have to gauge my joints and mood.

Is the regular E2 test really useless for men? I have gotten conflicting opinions during my research,

I don't think anyone would have a problem with the regular test....if the ranges for men were posted along with the ranges for women. But as yet, this isn't happening.

Took a look at the ranges for two tests.
Estradiol: Referenced Ranges: Adult male: 7.6-42.6 pg/mL

Estradiol, Sensitive: Reference Range: Male >15 3-70 pg/mL

I stand corrected. Thanks. I guess either one would be fine. However, it would be difficult for us to have discussions on this unless we had these ranges available on the lab reports (and on the posts of forum members). Members would have to go the lab website and post those ranges in order to have an educated discussion. But I guess it would be possible. It's nice to have the "sensitive" "standard" for our discussions, though - so we have a set means of comparison. If members can't get access to the sensitive test, they'd just have to provide the ranges for a male on the regular test.

(By the way, patience and courtesy go a long way on this forum. Unless I'm reading you completely wrong.)
