Struggle with low Free T while Total T is above average - Help
Hello Folks,
I continue to struggle with low free testosterone . I have modified my life style in the past several months, and the increase in testosterone has been marginal. Doctor believed that vitamin D deficiency was responsible for low free testosterone and recommended vitamin D supplement. But that my vitamin D is at 59 (sufficient). My lab this week showed the following:
Vitamin D: 59ng
Total T: 5.0ng (ref 2.8-8.0)
Free T: 7.53pg (Ref 8,80-27,00) below range. This went down from my last (10.33pg)
All other tests have been normal (thyroid, sex hormones, LH, SHGB).
I am 38 years old, 6’0 feet tall, 155 pounds, lift weight every day, don’t smoke or drink. I get about 7 hours of sleep every night.
Is it time to go for the shots or can my free T still be fixed? My sex drive increased once my vitamin D deficiency was fixed. I also got a bit more energy and gym recovery has slightly improved. I am still struggling with putting on muscles even though I am eating well and working out rigorously.
I thought my free T had gone up because I was waking up with an erecting every morning and sex drive had improved but testosterone has gone down!
I would appreciate any assistance.
