    Hemocrit

    Good Morning,

I had blood work done by 2 doctors for 2 different reasons (HRT and new family dr.) Bothr found my hemocrit and red blood cell count high... One suggested saw palmetto and the other suggested cutting back on test.

Has anyone ever heard of using saw palmetto for reduction in hemocrit?

What does everyone normally do for hi hemo and rbc

I donate a pint every two months at delta blood

and now I'm looking at Red Cross since they have the double RBC donation going on....

I'm thinking of staggering that so that every month I get to feed the vampires.......

I have been on TRT 200mg per week and mine was high. I started to donate blood at the red cross every time I am eligible, usually about every two months.

I had never heard of this before, but apparently saw palmetto can reduce blood cell and platelet production.
Most of us just donate blood (and use reasonable HRT doses), as that should be far more effective than grapefruit and saw palmetto.

saw palmetto, at what dosages? and and what quality? u know what i mean?

id be really interested in throwing this in my protocol so i dont have to get that gigantic needle in the arm, and they steel my liquid gold any more just to dump on their rose bushes (haha yeah lady at hospital said all old people keep their thearuputic phlebotomy bags to feed their rose bushes, um just buy some iron...hahaha)

Would it be safe to donate a pint to one blood center then to another blood center for a total of 2 pints say a week apart?

Depends on how much extra blood you have to lose.
    Stats?
    Hematocrit levels?

I gave blood on Saturday and I thought they said I was at 16 or 16.5 but that probably was my hemoglobin level.

To estimate your hematocrit, multiply your hemoglobin by 3. So you're looking at maybe 48-49.5% HCT before (?) donation, putting you in the low 40s afterward.
You don't need to lose another pint just yet.
